Had my Miele pod for years and loved it but needs replacing - looking for a hoover for serious cleaning - stairs, high cobwebs- nooks and crannies etc. Looking at Shark, Henry and Meile (more expensive) so any input appreciated - recommendations of other brands are welcone. Sell your hoovers to me

My Miele is on its last legs (must be 20 years old) so looking at a Henry Pet XL or on Amazon an Akitas turbo (think that's the name) . Henry obviously much more but still cheaper than a Miele, which is almost £400 for one like my current one.

SillyG · 30/10/2026 17:18

Miele every time.

Interested as I need a compact but good hoover. I’m sick of my Henry

Ive had a shark for the past 6 years. It does ok on carpets but on laminate its rubbish!

TheFairyCaravan · 30/10/2026 17:26

We’ve got a Shark that’s almost ten years old. It’s starting to make a funny noise but it’s been excellent. We’ve got carpets upstairs and wooden floors downstairs and it copes well with both. We do have a cordless Shark, too, to use in between times.

SabrinaThwaite · 30/10/2026 17:40

Miele - some models are currently being discounted in John Lewis.

DeeNiall · 30/10/2026 17:43

Henry because it's made in Britain

Ihateboris · 30/10/2026 17:57

The Sebo is bloody brilliant

BillieWiper · 30/10/2026 18:19

Henry but it is shite hoiking up stairs. You can get a longer hose though so you need not carry it up but that only works for one flight.
It's suction is fantastic though.

Jayinthetub · 30/10/2026 18:20

Shark convert here after numerous disappointing other brands!

maddiemookins16mum · 30/10/2026 18:26

Shark, would never change. Plus their Customer Service is fab.

GirlInTheMirror27 · 30/10/2026 18:27

My vax airlift pet max is godsend.

MadisonAvenue · 30/10/2026 18:35

Shark. I've had it for probably 6 years and wouldn’t change to any other make. We’ve got a dog which constantly sheds fur and it does a brilliant job of vacuuming it all up.

I had various Dysons for years before that and would never go back.

AuroraBloom · 30/10/2026 18:40

Henry every time.

kaparo · 30/10/2026 19:00

I have a great Miele, but it's rarely used as I prefer the cheapo Akitas V8 cordless from Jeff B. 😊

PeasOff · 30/10/2026 19:07

Henry. I cannot even remember how long I've had it and it's still going strong!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 30/10/2026 19:15

Dyson ball which way too heavy for me and a pain to clean and use the attachments.
Also have a small shaark handheld/upright corded one bought over ten years ago which I find fabulous for weight and ease of changing attachments and cleaning. But honestly probably way too small for majority of households. I don’t mind emptying for every room sometimes twice per room though.

HansHolbein · 30/10/2026 19:18

Henry is a prick but the suction is unmatched.
