Irregular periods and trying to conceive?

I have irregular periods and we are wanting to try and conceive next year. I feel a little nervous because of this. My first two children I were regular. I was hoping not to take ovulation tests this time as I found it very draining but it’s looking like I will need to???? What’s other people’s experiences?

I was able to get caught straight away with my first two but obviously that might not happen this time I know, plus I’m older. But I wanted to try and give myself the best chance but I feel like could this get in the way!???? Is anyone else similar? Thanks x

Hi! The best way might be to try every 2-3 days throughout the cycle if you aren't sure when you are ovulating. Would it be easier to do a couple of cycles of ovulation testing now when the stakes aren't high just to make sure you have a long enough timeframe between ovulation and your period? If that shows a concern you can do some research into luteal phase defect before you even start trying to maximise chances. Good luck!!

Edited to add clarity and also to say irregular cycles don't mean you have a luteal phase defect

Check your iron levels and supplement if you have ferritin under 100 and/or transferrin saturation under 20%. The Iron Protocol FB group is very helpful.
