How do you unwind?

It's a very busy season for me, DH is often abroad for work, so I'm juggling the DC (3 and 6) on my own. They're lovely but also can be quite a bit of work. I also work 3-4 days/week so it's just a lot! By the end of the week I'm just completely shattered and thrilled DH will be home to wipe noses and lift a tired 3 yo up the stairs.

How do you unwind? I don't really drink, I don't smoke, I don't do any drugs. I used to love to read but since the DC I've done that much less, unfortunately, and I don't feel I have the wherewithal to get through much more than the Gruffalo! Any other suggestions? I do love a hot shower.

I drink a lot of tea.

I also do a lot of walking. Not uncommon for me to do a full day hike once a week. I work PT so I do it one day when dc are at school or maybe once a month on a weekend. I’m often up and out before anyone else is awake and it gives me time to think and process.

I'm unable to leave my home, the DC are sleeping.

I love listening to a podcast while pottering around, current favourite is The Wellness Scoop (I mentioned this on another thread but I am not affiliated with them 🤣). I also like to do food prep for a break from screens and it makes it easier the following day. I love having breakfast ready in the morning. A bath, my acupressure mat, colouring, knitting, reading (but you could listen to audio books instead)

I don't know whether it counts as unwinding as such but I've noticed that quite a lot of people do crochet these days.

I used to do counted cross stitch and it can get quite addictive. You get to a stage, about two thirds through, when you become really invested in the plot of it all, like you do with a good book and you really want to see the satifying outcome, again like a good book.

There was a lovely thread on here last year or maybe even the year before in which somebody was making a crochet nativity scene for Christmas.

It was really fun to follow.

At home I either read, sew or play video games.
