Buying a one year old car that only has one key...

Buying a car from a main Hyundai dealership. My car is 12 months old. Owned by the dealership as the test drive car.
It is being moved from one franchise to another. I drove 2.5hrs to the other franchise to see it as it was the nearest car to me that met what I was after. The car was unlocked on arrival and the salesman did a test drive with me, so at no point did I have the keys. The salesman did tell me that they had had to use the key as the battery was flat due to being sat still for some time, and that for this reason the cap was not on the door handle. They told me it would be put back on.
Today, the dealership I'm buying the car from (so as to make it easier for me to collect) called me to say the car had arrived with them and to ask if I knew that the car only came with one key. I said no, I didn't know that. They asked if I'd seen two keys when test driving, but I explained as above, I didn't see or use the keys at all. They seemed satisfied by my response, and said they had ordered another key and 2 blades (the actual physical keys). They also said the cap was missing still on the door handle, but they had replaced it. The car is being serviced tomorrow as its exactly 12 months old. I will then be collecting it.
Would you be concerned about the missing key?
I suppose what im worried about is that the other dealership were not happy that I bought the car through my local dealership. I know this because they called me and tried to get me to back out of the sale I'd arranged locally to me. Have they not supplied the key to be difficult? And the cap for the door (which they told me they had and would put back on, and the dealership I purchased through knew this wasn't on when I viewed as I told them it would need to be on as part of the sale). I don't know. What should I do next? I've emailed the dealership I'm buying from and put in to writing what has been agreed for a new key and 2 blades (cap already replaced they tell me). I won't be taking the car until they respond in writing to this. But is there anything else I should be asking? It is concerning that another key may be out there somewhere for a car that cost me a hell of a lot of money 😬.
I've spent 2 weeks solidly car hunting after my car died, and I have discounted SO many cars and discovered so many dealerships lying to me. So, I do not have trust in them! I'm trying to keep one step ahead from them!

Is your worry that the ‘lost’ key would be used to steal your car? that is astonishingly unlikely. If not not sure what your concern is

I’m stuck on driving that far to see a car 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Very suspicious that the cap was missing and only one key. Sounds like it was a stolen vehicle at some point! Check with your insurance company, they might have a record of what actually happened if there was a claim regarding the car. Also, look at the VIN plate, is it damaged in any way?

I suppose, yes, that would be my biggest concern.
I carry medical equipment for my job, including medical gases (gas & air). That would be my other worry.

I dont think that is the case. It is a large franchise (Evans Halshaw) and was their demo vehicle (its' a 75 plate).

I would get them to change the locks as you probably wouldn't be insured.

Oh don't! I did it twice. Once last Thursday, even further! And then again on Sunday as I wasn't happy with the service record for the first car - wasn't main dealership and came with no paper or electronic record to show parts used - so manufacturers warranty would be void. It also had no washer fluid and low pressure in 3 tyres - when it had been serviced just 30 miles before!

The nearest ones to me (31 and 65 miles away) both had incomplete service records! These were the next 2! (It is a Hyundai Tuscon petrol manual Ultimate trim if you want to see - autotrader have 19 listed!)

My car only has one key , bought as a 3 year old from an independant garage .

Just need to make sure I don;t lose it , but I'm the only driver so the buck stops with me !

I did once lose my key. In a hay field. In the middle of the night. With a boy.
It was an absolute disaster. I shall not be repeating!
But still, I do want two keys as the car is worth less with just one! Even though I am too old to be romping around hay fields in the middle of the night anymore!

I bought a new car (2026) and that came with one physical key and a key card that you could link to your phone to act as another key but it won't work on my phone...
I looked into buying another key £450 I think, and dealership suggested that if it left unused for a while that it would go flat and not work so it probably wasn't worth it.
I am still undecided whether to get the key or potentially buy a phone that the key card will load onto !

My bigger concern would be that if you are querying this now, should you decide to sell the car on in the future, would someone be put off buying it for the same reason?

As an aside, you are never too old to want to explore a hay field at night with someone 😀.
