M&S decorate your own vanilla cake…

Has anyone used these stacked up for a wedding cake, and if so, could you please show me the result? I was going to bake my own 6-layer tall cake, but saw this last week and thought it’s an easier option! Any input gratefully received…including any feedback on whether they taste good, please!

If it’s only one diameter, how are you going to get six tiers? Each tier should be 2” smaller than the one underneath. If you do tier it you must use dowels. The only other option (I think, but maybe out of date) is to use a stand for off-set tiers.

My friend used these for her wedding and bought a stand for them to go on from an online catering company and basically just stuck them on and decorated them with silk flowers and it looked great at a fraction of the cost - M&S also do cakes to order if you look at their website and these are great too

I don’t want 6 tiers, I want a tall six layer cake, straight up and down, same diameter tip to bottom.

I should have! To be honest I took a picture to send to a friend, and then the idea came to me later that day.

I’ve never had a bad cake from M&S

you could decorate with silk flowers or even fruit depending on what you wanted. I’ve known people pay hundreds for wedding cake and it’s just not necessary really is it?

I think it would look amazing with some dried flowers on it or some kind of "topper". I did some white hearts stitched onto silver twigs for a friend's wedding that looked lovely.

Many years ago I bought the M&S rich fruit cakes with white icing on fory wedding cake. I bought 3 cakes in different sizes and displayed them on a chrome wedding cake stacker. I had my florist make several fresh flower bits to go on them. My Mum put a horseshoe on each corner and a bride and groom on top. It was 23 years ago but the cakes and bits to go on them all cost under £50. DH and I don't like rich fruit cake but my Mum and sister loved it. I sent them both home with half of one of the tiers each.

Ive been a guest when one was served. It was fine taste wise. Wish they'd been round when I got married and paid too much money for a not very good cake!

We did the same. A fruit layer and a sponge layer topped with fresh flowers. I don’t think they do those anymore.
