Is it common for an Airline to change the dates of your flights

I booked a very budget break to Spain, flying into Alicante. Ever since I booked I've been getting emails about slight changes to the flight times, now three weeks before we're due to go I had one yesterday moving the flights from Weds to Tues, and another today moving to Monday, which means they don't tie up with the accomodation.

I can have a refund but will need to book new flights wouh another airline, which I could have booked (potentially) cheaper if I'd booked earlier.

I've had flight changes before but never been moved 2 days, does this happen often?

Easyjet did that for my next set of flights with them. I’ve travelled with them before and previously they’ve only changed the times slightly - I book a long way in advance, so their flight times are estimates, and are tweaked slightly when they finalise their timetables.
This time, they’ve moved the flight half a day to a midnight arrival and changed my destination airport. I assume it’s because the airline has new owners, who have other plans for it.
There’s not much I can do about it this time, but I can’t imagine flying with them in the future.

I've only had day changes with budget airlines and even then times change but rarely days. I guess it's the risk you take booking separately rather than package. I've had flights combined with good airlines if they've been a bit empty but always the same day.

These days, yes, quite common. Aviation so much worse post Covid.
