That's it. I've got cast iron, ive got what was an expensive non stick that no longer is. Id like one without a Teflon coat, is solid but not as heavy as the cast iron one, but is easy to look after and will last. Oh and isnt stupid money. Please tell me what worked well for you.

Oooh I need exactly this too! I was looking at ceramic non stick, anyone know if they're any good? And I really like how the white coloured ones look but am worried I'm being seduced by looks over substance.

Salter Megastone frying pan

The Megastone frying pan from Salter is a lightweight and comfortable to use when cooking. But how did it perform in our tests?

DH bought a double frying pan, it is in two halves so you can use them as two pans or they slot together , it’s easy to do and one half becomes the lid for the other.

I think it was about £60 and it’s a Spanish tortilla pan. It’s actually brilliant, as you just flip the pan over and not faff about with a spatula.

SteelyEyed · 26/10/2026 10:20

Thanks for posting those reviews... I bought the Hexclad wok a year ago and it's been okay but not brilliant, not sure it was worth the money. So not sure I'd go with the frying pan.

Think I'll try the Salter one, it's got brilliant reviews on Amazon - only 4% of reviews were 1-star which is amazing when you think of how many amazon reviewers are usually insane nut jobs.

I have a few GreenPans, with which I have been pleased. Not the cheapest, but not exorbitant either. However, not very widely stocked.

I agree about this. I have had a set of stainless steel pans, including a frying pan for over 15 years. The previous set of stainless steel pans, which were about 25 years old were thrown away because they had wooden handles and I had put them in the dishwasher. The pans, apart from the handles, were still fine.

It is exciting buying a new frying pan! I went into a homeware shop and spent quite a while talking to the woman. She asked me how we cook. I told her DH shoves everything on a high heat, etc. She recommended one by a company called Pro Chef. I think it's a titanium one. But no non-stick coating - you heat it up, and all the little pores in the metal close up and it becomes non-stick, and then you put the fat and the food in. She was also very stern about not putting a hot pan into cold water - let it cool down first. I told her I knew that, but DH didn't. She said "Send him in here!" Anyway, I'm very happy with it. Good luck in your search.

You have just sent me down a GLORIOUS rabbit hole of Spanish double tortilla pans. I did not know these existed and now I want one! Inevitably every single one on Amazon has at least one review saying the handle melted or when they flipped it the tortilla dribbled out or it was flimsy.
I don't suppose you and your DH have an actual solid recommendation do you? I'd be very grateful! 😂🥚🥘Thank you.

I have a stainless steel frying pan from Oxo that is excellent. I've had mine for many years and they do seem expensive now, but might be worth holding out until Black Friday or the January sales and treating yourself then.

RegimentalSturgeon · 26/10/2026 11:19

Have a look at Scoville ‘never stick’. Really good quality, very non-stick, a dream to clean.

Have a look at Scoville NeverStick. Really good quality, genuinely non-stick, a dream to clean.

NewYearVibes · 26/10/2026 11:23

I was here because I wanted a replacement of mine. I got green pan and it's rubbish. It always sticks even if I add a ton of oil. My sainsbury habitat saute pan worked better and is cheaper.

NestaVipaz · 26/10/2026 11:49

Ninja. Solid, non-stick, unscratchable.

I have this, wasn’t cheap but it’s 2 years old and still looks new

We were in an enormous cooking shop in Den Haag, bloody hell, there were hundreds and so expensive. I saw lots of those ones with that hexa coating, but worried it was a fad.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 26/10/2026 22:20

I believe titanium pans is where it’s at now. No dodgy nonstick coating like a tefal type, won’t rust like cast iron and definitely non stick unlike stainless steel.
