Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot...alone again! Both cats are in with the girls, and neither of them is up yet! When I've finished my cuppa I'll make a coffee, sort my tablets for the coming week & request my repeat prescriptions from the GP.

Today's plan is much the same as yesterday, I'm going to have a couple of hours pottering & crocheting first, then some glossing. My dad's nipping round to collect his mower, and we need a walk to Lidl for something for Sunday dinner. Dd1 volunteered the other night on the phone so we'll see how keen she is when she gets up! If not, it's sausages 🤷‍♀️.

Dd2 will want to do some more college work - she took some time yesterday to organise it into chunks by what's due first so she can work through it in order.

I suspect I won't get as far as I want with the glossing - my dad tends to sit for hours, so will carry on into the week, depending what the girls want to do.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m in bed. Have been up and got stuff together for a break I’m going on, but I really don’t think driving today would be a good idea, so I’ll go tomorrow.

Id like some breakfast though, so I’ll get up, have that, and do a bit of cleaning.

Tiddlywinks63 · 25/10/2026 09:34

Good morning, beautifully sunny but windy here so the washing is on the line.
DH excelled himself this morning changing all the clocks but unfortunately he’s put them all forward by an hour…..🤦‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️, including the cooker clock which is a bugger to change and he’s somehow overrode the heating thermostat that now is sulking and refusing to play fair.
So, I’m off to Lidl before I completely lose my rag. We don’t actually need much but I have to get out!
Apart from that I don’t have anything planned, both dogs are snoozing in patches of sunlight, tiddler’s snoring away.
I did get one kitchen cupboard and the big cutlery drawer sorted out yesterday, I could tackle the next cupboard when I get back (I know there’s out of date tins lurking at the back of it) as it’s recycling collection day here on Tuesday so perhaps that’s the plan for later?
Anyway, I hope you @lucysmam and followers all have a lovely day storms withstanding x

Good morning, our oldest has a hockey game today so we need to get everything ready for that in a bit. The youngest is out with Papa at the moment, they’ve gone to buy cake and coffee so we can take it with us.

I need to order a new showerhead today, I dropped ours cleaning it this morning and it cracked, so thats a bit annoying. You can’t get the same one so we need to pick a new shower/tap attachment thingy for the shower. Why are showers/taps so expensive?

We enjoyed the first episode of Yaga yesterday, so we might watch the second one tonight if both the kids are asleep at a decent time.

Have a nice sunday.

frozendaisy · 25/10/2026 09:39

Morning morning morning

Been a full on couple of days, first looking round the outside thinking “storm ready” what do we need to do. Mostly moving lighter things around and patching up lean-to roof.

Yesterday was Halloween outfit trying on, they go elsewhere to a very into Halloween house and want to “look the part” and then had dinner out at our favourite local restaurant which was fun even in the wind and rain.

I was wide awake at 4am ish so did the tumble wash and got it in the dryer (we have an eco condenser thing and it takes hours I almost want it to break so we can invest in an all singing all dancing heat pump thing that is eco and doesn’t take all day for a load) - so I am taking that as a win. I will do a delicates wash and get them hung out in a bit. No great rush no school this week.

If the monitor stand arrives hopefully get H to install it in front of treadmill with the sky box so we can watch tv (I know it’s not ideal but I reckon something to watch will make all of us go on treadmill more/longer) and as we had everything except the stand to have tv there it’s worth a shot.

Hopefully a lot of reading, chat, clutter (that I can’t do myself) sorting, roast beef dinner. Might have an inventory of board games as if we are going to get rid best do it before Christmas if they are charity shop worthy.

Have a nice Sunday all.

Veraandacupoftea · 25/10/2026 09:45

Hmmm still in bed but have been up to make a cup of tea and close the back gate that someone had left banging in the wind !

it’s half term for me and I had so many plans but 🤷‍♂️.

im going to sort out my Christmas gifts and make a list ready for payday .

I would “like” to clean the bathroom and film some booktok videos for the next week. It’s really taken off and I made more money last week then I did at work

still very windy and rainy here , and we need some food but dh has taken care of to work 🙄

poor DS is out on his paper round 😱

also praying the roof holds up- had an 8k quote for it to be fixed but can’t afford it yet .

it’s very windy

Mogloveseggs · 25/10/2026 09:48

Good morning.
Slower morning here now as Ds’s football has been cancelled due to the wind.
Dh is watching cricket.
Dd and boyfriend making cupcakes and I’ve just finished her Halloween headband.
Need a shower and walk the dog then hopefully going to the cinema this afternoon.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 25/10/2026 09:50

Good morning lucysmam and others. Tiddlywink 2 very happy dogs!
We had a very stormy night here. I had very painful feet so was awake anyway but there was a big bang at one point. This morning I had a look but my garden (and bins) seem unscathed. Dd has lost some roof tiles and has a leak. I haven't heard how ds fared. His house is more problematic. I've had two coffees then porridge then I went back to bed for an hour or so. That's unheard of as usually once I'm up, that's me. So I'm currently drinking tea and contemplating how to spend the day. I will probably wash the floors and make chicken stew for dinner. Other than that, no idea! Have a good day all.

troppibambini6 · 25/10/2026 09:57

I’m trying to pack for holiday. We are going to turkey tomorrow and I don’t want to go. I’m staying positive for everyone in the family but it’s pissing down ever day we are there and we are in an AI with not much about. I’m also in the middles of a kitchen reno project with the new kitchen being delivered and lots of important work being done while I’m away and it’s stressing me out not being here.
I’m aware I sound very ungrateful. The holiday was driven by dh and I know he needs a break from a stressful job but I just keep thinking what a waste of 7k.

gingercat02 · 25/10/2026 10:00

What a morning of weather! We have had rainbows, hail, sunshine, wind, you name it.
Trip to Richmond for lunch and then back for more wine, cheese and snacks. We have had a lovely weekend, so far.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 25/10/2026 10:09

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Missed the thread yesterday as ended up having a really busy day. All over the place with the clock change. I’m on holiday (staycation) this coming week & will be feeling tired. Wish we could just stay the same! I didn’t sleep very well & went downstairs at one point in the early hours. Still in bed having had a cuppa & a mini twix. DH is in the bathroom & I’ll have a shower/hairwash when he’s done. He was watching cycle maintenance videos which I reckon could easily have cured my insomnia! Just heard DD17 - think she’s on the phone to her GF. Hoping she goes out for a walk soon so I can retrieve my favourite pen from her room. I know she’s got it although she’s flatly denying it. No idea why she can’t just say that she took it upstairs after she borrowed it & then give it back. She has form for this unfortunately, although it’s got better since toxic ex GF is no longer on the scene. It’s sunny here in Cornwall & very windy. We came off lightly after the storm luckily. Not much planned. It always takes me a few days to relax when I’m off work, especially as it’s been crazy. Might clear the area in the lounge where we put the bunny cages - should be bringing them in at night towards the end of the week because of fireworks. There’s a lot of stuff, mainly my Vinted items, and I’m not entirely sure where it can all go. I also want to sort through the rest of the clutter including all my charity shop china, jewellery which is going to be in a photoshoot at DF’s & piles of magazines etc. I took out a subscription to Good Housekeeping & have only read one issue out of about 8. Need to peel a load of spuds for roasties which we’ll have for tea with pan fried pork loin steaks, peas & gravy. Considered making cauliflower cheese but couldn’t be bothered! The dishwasher needs doing, surfaces need a proper wipe down & there’s a load of washing to either hang out or tumble dry ( heavy showers between the sunny spells). I may tidy the freezer as there’s quite a lot in there but doesn’t seem to be much we can actually make meals with. Oh & write a meal plan for the week. I’ll probably start using the slow cooker. I have an episode of All Creatures Great & Small to catch up on, which I believe is the last in the series. DH & I might watch more of Peaky Blinders. Completely missed it when it came out & really enjoying it now, although it’s extremely violent at times. Have a good Sunday all ❤️

Popfan · 25/10/2026 10:09

Just having a coffee after a nice lie in with a cup of tea in bed. Weather is lovely this morning after all the rain last night. Plan for this morning is to go to the tip as I cleared loads of things from the spare room yesterday and also need to put some things in the loft. Then it's pick up the click and collect from Tesco.

I think I'm playing a few holes of golf with my dad this afternoon, we'll see, it is still quite windy. Not sure about dinner, there's a few options! Depends on what I can be bothered to do. A friend is staying over later and we are going to go somewhere tomorrow for lunch etc which will be lovely.

DilemmaDelilah · 25/10/2026 10:17

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

@frozendaisy just to warn you - we have a heat pump dryer and it takes HOURS to dry a load. MUCH longer than our previous vented one. We got it because it is A+ rated but the vented one was much quicker and easier. The upside of this one is that (because we have solar panels) we can run it more or less for free during the day, depending on how much light there is. We never use it after dark. And there are only two of us... If I had family living at home and did twice as much laundry it wouldn't work for us at all.

I finished the evening bag I was working on yesterday. It's OK, and will do for me, but I'm not as pleased with it as I was with the other one. I'm still learning as I go and because I use remnants and things got from the Scrap store (charity) I don't have a lot of things that might make it easier/look more professional. I have started on a couple of Christmas pudding decorations now, after which I'm going to do some more bells as I picked up some more ric rac from the Scrap store to decorate them with. I'm only doing simple things as I need to avoid making too much mess before Houdini and his mum arrive on Wednesday.

Her room is just about done now, Houdini's room has a clothes rail full of things for Vinted in there which needs moving out, but his bed can be made and the bookcase tidied up etc before then.

I have a pile of clothes that were taken out of the spare room to put away, I'm trying to keep well on top of the laundry, but apart from that no other plans for today.

Mr Dilemma has taken a couple of chicken breasts out of the freezer and requested spicy blackened chicken and onions with rice this evening, so that is what we will have. He defrosted the shed freezer yesterday so we went through the contents before they went back, and had stew (very nice indeed) yesterday evening and I got out some French onion soup for lunch today. I also made an apple crumble last night, and had some of that for breakfast!

I hope you have all survived last night's storm. My sister is on holiday in South West Scotland in their motorhome at the moment. She says they chose the most sheltered spot they could but were kept awake all night by the noise and rocking (and fear I suspect!). The amber forecast is expected to continue until this evening so they aren't going anywhere today.

Flomingho · 25/10/2026 10:24

Still in bed with a coffee. About to get up have a shower and then have some breakfast, do some washing and cleaning. Prepare a cottage pie for this evening. I was hoping to spend the afternoon at home after a busy week but DD has other plans and wants me to go shopping with her.😬

ooooohitswindyoutthere · 25/10/2026 10:26

I’m recovering from a very boozy bottomless brunch yesterday - day drinking is neither big or clever.

Rainbow1235 · 25/10/2026 10:29

Good morning lucysmam and to u all I’m only just out of bed and having a cuppa then I think dsughter no 1 wants to go to home bargains for a look around . It’s so so windy here and we are on the edge of the mountain so realy high up . Chilled afternoon then think steaks for tea and prob early night as I got 3 out of 6 grandchildren Nxt week as it’s half term so that will be fun lol 😂. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

zingally · 25/10/2026 10:33

Morning all!

Ended up popping out to the local precinct yesterday afternoon to go to Boots for stronger painkillers for my back. Did feel a bit of a fool. Was trying to explain to the pharmacist what I'd already tried, and for the LIFE OF ME, could not remember the word "paracetamol". I was fumbling around, going, "...? It's not aspirin... what's the word?" The guy must have thought I was loopy. I swear, perimenopause is starting to kick my arse.
Then he asked me how I'd hurt it, and I had to explain it was by dragging a kids bouncy castle across a hall floor.
Came away with something containing codeine. Took a dose of that, then promptly fell asleep for an hour.

No plans for today really. Waiting for 11am when I'll take advantage of an hours free electricity to run the washing machine and dish washer. I've been round and changed all the clocks and watches that won't do it automatically. The only one that still needs doing is the bedside alarm clock radio, which is a real sod to do, and I'll have to get the instruction book out for that one! It's not intuitive and I never remember how to do it from season to season.

No plans for the rest of the day. I'm just trying to rest my back. And at some point this evening, I'll have to get my stuff ready for work on Monday.

Topsy44 · 25/10/2026 10:41

Morning All,

Had 2 cups of tea and toast.

DD was up super early this morning about 5, she’s an early riser anyway but I guess clock change and the sounds of the wind outside didn’t help! I thought at 14 it would be the other way round now!! I could hear her padding about so I did wake up for a bit to check she was ok and managed to go back to sleep for a while but feel like I haven’t slept as well as I could.

Will call DM in a bit and then will try and get DD out for a walk after lunch if weather is ok. I fancy a roast this evening so after the walk we’ll pop to local shop for a few bits.

This evening, we’ll watch Strictly results and I have tomorrow off work and DD is on half term so will be nice not to have the Sun prep evening for work and school!!

Tarkan · 25/10/2026 10:47

Morning lucysmam and all!

It’s incredibly stormy here so no plans other than chilling on the sofa with my fluffy blanket and Disney+. I’ve stolen the Switch 2 from the DC so I can play a bit of Tomodachi Life today too. Our Sky reception is gone so I can’t watch the F1 but DH checked that the dish is still on the house at least. He also rescued our glass recycling box before it made a break for freedom (our council doesn’t do doorstep glass recycling anymore so we pay a private company and have to pay to replace the box if it vanishes). Our gazebo looks like it might be totally broken and a neighbour’s blue bin (paper and card so always really light even when full) is dancing around our back garden right now.

DD (22) has to walk the dog still, he’s a pain that he won’t do his business in the garden (he was a street dog so probably a territory thing) so trying to work out where is safest for them to walk as their normal walk is through a wooded area.

DH is working tonight so he’s struggling to sleep with everything banging around outside but at least it’s meant to calm down before he’s out in the bus.

thebeautifulsky · 25/10/2026 11:23

Morning all, still suffering from this cold which has now gone to my chest so another chilled day here. DH is out in the garden moving stuff around! I've got the bedding in the washing machine and potatoes boiling on the stove ready for Sunday lunch. DH fancying some kind of meat and potato pie so we'll see. I need to get better soon as helping family with a house move next week.

Have a good week everyone.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 25/10/2026 11:47

Morning all (just about!)

DH got up and made coffee and pancakes this morning. I had that in bed and then got up and cleaned out the fires and downstairs. Back up for a little chill and then I did some ironing.

DH and DCs are now putting Halloween decorations up and I’m in the bedroom, just had some toast. I’m starving this morning!

Today I’m going to take DCs for a swim and then we might pop down to see MIL. We’re thinking a Chinese for dinner today, and maybe a hot chocolate later. I’m off work all week so looking forward to some nice days with the kiddies.

Have a lovely Sunday all!

ElectiveAffinities · 25/10/2026 12:00

I always mean to post on this lovely thread but usually fail! It was a very rainy and stormy night but no damage, I think (yesterday evening I was a bit spooked by a thud from upstairs but on investigation it turned out to be the soap-holder I'd just bought from IKEA falling off the tiles it was stuck onto and into the bath 🤦‍♀️)

I haven’t been sleeping at all well lately but had a good night with the extra hour. It’s now sunny, if still quite windy. DH and I sat up in bed for a while doing the cryptic crossword - our obsession - then got up and had showers. We plan to wander down the road to our local high street, which is having a big Hallow'een day today with lots of stalls etc. Our favourite coffee shop's there but it'll be so busy we don’t expect to get a table, so might just grab a takeaway drink.

More boringly, I need to get a load of washing done and tidy round for old friends who are visiting on Tuesday. No idea what’s for dinner, but I haven’t had any breakfast yet! We haven’t been to the shops thanks to the bad weather.
And I haven’t made my Christmas cake yet. Need to get ingredients for that.

Last but not least, I'm nerving myself to try for the umpteenth time to rip back some knitting which went wrong and which I seemingly CANNOT fix. I get it straight, with the right number of stitches and the pattern correct, and within one row it’s wrong again. I'm reluctant to give up on it because I've knitted quite a lot already (it’s a blanket). Aargh.

OchreSwan · 25/10/2026 12:51

Afternoon all! I was up early today and went for a run while it was very sunny. Glad I did as it’s much windier now. Food shopping done, cleaned bathroom, put away laundry, changed bedding and done a general tidy so far.

DP is away for the night so planning on a relaxed rest of the day with a bath, catching up on bake off, and batch cooking some pasta sauce. An early night is calling my name, so hoping the wind dies down. We’re high up and it’ll be disturbing if it stays this loud and fierce!
