We're not UK and the only brand available here is bright pink banana flavour, with that really nasty bitter 80's children's antibiotic flavour. We normally use suppositories, but just occasionally liquid is useful.

We're having visitors who can bring some from the UK, so which one is best? I remember a really nice orange flavour one from my childhood with real sugar so you had to clean your teeth after, but I guess that's banned now.

The most common brand is Calpol

Calpol is very delicious especially the one that isn’t sugar free! 😂

It comes with real sugar?! Brilliant! The one here is so nasty that my beautiful parquet floor has pink stains where he spat it out

Strawberry Calpol is the best. I’d recommend asking for the 6 plus one even if your child is younger. It’s higher concentration, but you just reduce the dosage accordingly. That way you get more in the bottles they can bring over!

You can get a colour free and sugar free Calpol which we always use. Tastes nice!

It comes with a syringe now rather than a spoon so easy to administer. How old are your DC?

Yes! Here it is…. It’s usually kept behind the counter not on display like the sugar free one

I think it’s Lloyd’s own brand that do an orange one.

I don't think there is one brand that is more delicious. We used to get a cherry flavour own brand one because picky DC spat out the more common flavours, strawberry and orange. But plenty of kids like Calpol. Getting the real sugar one is a good shout though.

Being grown up size is great - the capsules are tasteless.

There are also Calpol fastmelts which are tablets that dissolve on their tongue. Very useful for out and about.

Numark Cherry tastes like cherry drops!

Thanks all! DS is 18 months so in general suppositories are way easier. They're only every 6 hours though, which means second dose after bed time is middle of the night and they don't act quite as fast. He's tiny too so has been stuck at the top end of the baby weight limit for ages but not quite tipped over into the toddler dose. I'll get my family to buy one of every type and my mum can do some explaining at security.

Coop/Well Pharmacies do an own brand cherry one which is nice and about a third the price of Calpol.
