St Alban's vs Barnet vs anywhere else?!

Any info on moving to St Albans? Is Barnet any good? House prices are excruciating in SA.. Looking for an inclusive, friendly place with a great community feel and things on the doorstep..

Any other family friendly places that way to consider?

Wheathampstead is a village nearby st Alban's where property is slightly cheaper and it has a nice community feel

I used to live in St Albans and loved it there. Good schools, close to the countryside, excellent commuter options in to London, thriving market at the weekend and so on. Depending on what you're looking for then there are definitely other options. As @Olivegreenshine suggests Wheathampstead is very nice but a lot smaller and without a train station. Hitchen is also very nice but a possible worse commuter option for London. What's important to you and what budget are you looking at?

Would definitely go for St Albans over Barnet. Schools are excellent and yes, house prices are higher, but generally a better place to live and to bring up kids. The better Barnet schools are mainly selective, which St Albans ones aren’t, which is worth bearing in mind when choosing between the two. Better shops and parks in St Albans. Barnet is on the tube but can be slow and an irregular service. I live in Barnet before I get a pile-on from pro-Barneteers!
