my daughter is 40 and has been disabled since 2014 when she suddenly became ill with two chronic illnesses, she was on PIP but it was all taken off her at review last year when the dwp said she had no occupational therapist input (not sure why they said that because she sent three ot reports with her mandatory reconsideration and they also knew she had an adapted wet room installed via an ot) she also has a carer.

pip was taken off her in november last year. she submitted her appeal in march this year and has been waiting ever since for a hearing date.

since she submitted the appeal her housing association moved her via a management move to an adapted flat as she was unsafe and unable to cope where she was living.

four days ago she had a stroke and was rushed to hospital, it has left her unable to write and with memory issues such as when they asked her to look at animals on a piece of paper she couldn't tell them the word for 'lion' 'rhino' etc and keeps forgetting her address etc which makes me worried she won't be able to answer the judges questions very well, she is getting very confused all the time.

i called the court to let them know she had the stroke and the lady on the phone said she had now shortlisted her case..

I'm her representative and wondering how this will work now? will i be able to talk on her behalf? i don't mean everything they ask her just if she gets confused or forgets something? or will it be postponed?

Gosh poor you and poor dd, 40 is so young for so many health complications.

I don’t have any advice on your specific question but bumping for you.

Hi I'm really sorry that is really hard. I am named as appointee for my adult son. There is a very simple form you can fill out or ring pip and I think they can do it over the phone. We had a tribunal over video link in June. I spoke for my son. I answered every question, my son wasn't present. So you absolutely can speak for your daughter as long as you tell them it is necessary first. Sending love, I know how very stressful this is.
