This is TMI and I apologise but is anyone else peri and does anyone else have terrible wind? Like regular, uncontrollable, eggy farts?
I’m so grim…..

OMG I have this. Never in my life have I had such terrible wind. So random and loud!

Busybeemumm · 23/10/2026 12:52

Are you on HRT? It's got worse since starting HRT!

TheHatOfHappiness · 23/10/2026 12:53

Yep. I bloat a lot, over anything, and get awful wind. Its no longer just dairy and beans, and when its beans its proper bad. No idea why.

Yes... I get so bloated and windy, after eating but also randomly at other times 🫣. I keep avoiding the fact that maybe I need to start excluding things from my diet to see if that affects it. But it's very cyclical - I don't have that issue at all at the moment, for instance. Could this be entirely peri-related?!?

I found kefir and actively helped a lot

edit. Not actively, even though being active does help. I meant actimels

I am focusing on protein as I’m trying to lose weight and I think protein makes it worse!

Yes and diarrhoea type poo as well.

Phrootbaht · 23/10/2026 14:33

Things improved for me when I did dry veganuary. I couldn’t bring myself to have dairy again afterwards, and staying dairy free has certainly helped calm my breezy bottom.

Additup · 23/10/2026 14:46

Unless you eat a diet high in pulses, prunes, cabbage etc which could explain the wind you might want to try eating less sugar/alcohol and more gut friendly food because it sounds like your bowel biome is upset.

Randomusername123456789 · 24/10/2026 15:14

Just in case it makes a difference to even one person (and not trying to scaremonger as it's much more likely to be diet related) but I heard for the first time the other day that it's on the list of things to mention to your GP due to the rise in bowel cancer in under 50s, which is a similar time to perimenopause.

notnorman · 24/10/2026 17:59

Mine is awful. Random runs too.

Keepgettingolder81 · 24/10/2026 18:31

I’ve never had such loud farts since starting on HRT! Other than that it’s the best thing I’ve ever done, but my family think I am gross!
