What is Scunthorpe really like?

We are relocating. I have found a dream house on the outskirts of Scunthorpe which is commutable from the new place of work.

Please be serious because I am. For those who live in and around Scunthorpe- what is it really like? I once drove around it to go to a children’s soft play centre but that’s been it so far.

Also, is it easy to get to Doncaster train station?

Ever watch the programme Skint? Scunthorpe was one of the places on it. That and Grimsby.

High levels of deprivation, low levels of education, very white. I think it also skews old, with unusually high numbers of retirees and fewer young people. Your classic impoverished post-industrial town.

The lack of diversity might be an issue. But I am genuinely looking for positives for the area. What are the surrounding villages like?
