Fuming at vinted buyer!!

Sold an item on vinted. Buyer raised an issue saying there are numerous stains on it with photos showing some brown marks like someone has stood all over it! I definitely did not post it like that. I have all 5 star reviews. I might have missed one faint stain by accident, but not numerous dark ones. I had a feeling she was scamming me so I said I would pay for her to post it back to me and she would get a full refund. I also wanted it back so I could check out these stains myself! Suddenly she wasn't happy with returning it for free and asked for a partial refund and said she wanted to keep the item (despite it being terribly stained...). I said it wouldn't let me change it now. Then she says she going on holiday tomorrow (convenient) and can't post it so instead she cancels the whole return and releases the payment to me. But then gives me a bad 1 star review! When I look at her profile it's full of bad reviews and other people also saying she's complained about apparent stains. Why are people like this? Trying to get stuff for free and scamming genuinely good sellers.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's annoying but you've got mostly good reviews. She was trying her luck, it's annoying.

Let Vinted know and send screenshots and they should remove the negative feedback. I had similar and they did it for me.

Ive seen this a lot (online). Seems to be a bit of an opportunist scam. Some pictures are even AI

ThatCyanCat · 22/10/2026 21:43

It's the Wild West on there. Last two items I've bought never got posted even though the sellers have been online; automatic refund and one star reviews for them. I've learned that if they message you and say they're sorry, they're ill so they'll be late posting, you'll never get the item.

I have a few very nice pieces that I was thinking of selling on Vinted (have only ever bought) but I think I'll take them to the charity shop. Not sure it's worth the aggro for the amount I'll get.

Please share her username name. I will block her.
So annoying that people are like this.

Fuck knows what your post says but it starts with "fuming" and I can't get past that.

Are you the buyer? 😂😂😂

I had negative feedback left by the seller because she didn't post the items in time but made out it was my fault.
I'd ordered a bundle of t-shirts and 20 minutes before the end of the shipping time allowance she requested to extend the shipping saying she hadn't had time to post, except I was at work and didn't see it in time.
So she cancelled the order on me then left me feedback saying I didn't respond to her so she had to cancel on me! Making it sound like I had done something wrong.
Sorry for the ! But it still makes me cross when I think about the absolute cheek of it, mostly because she relisted them at twice the price then messaged me weeks later asking me to repurchase, but I've been blocked by Vinted from buying from her again.

Generally I like Vinted, but it is hit and miss and I don't expect any miracles from there.

Lilyandfrog · 22/10/2026 22:26

On the negative review she put the seller "insisted on giving me a full refund" like that's a bad thing 😂 . Yes I did offer a full refund, but I also wanted the item back! Why would anyone want to keep an item that's stained so bad - unless it wasn't! I can guarantee that item will be back up for sale soon with no stains and twice the price!

I had very similar happen to me. Sold some baby changing mat covers, very cheap, and I wrote in the listing 'good, used condition'. She receives it, takes photos of these stains that I don't recognise and wants me to give it to her for free. I asked her to return them for a full refund, which she didn't. Then left me a bad 1 star review, full of emojis like ❌❗❗❗I found it all funny, to be honest. She was my first and so far only 1 star review. It was bound to happen eventually.

I sold some of my son’s shorts on Vinted. A couple of pairs had stains which I described and showed close up in the photos. The shorts still had loads of wear in them though. Someone bought a bundle and then raised an issue as they had stains on and they were “fit for the bin”. The photos she took showed exactly the same stains that were showing in my photos. She was asking for a partial refund but I told her that if she was unhappy and thought they were fit for the bin then I wanted them back. A partial refund indicates that she was happy to keep them, in which case they weren’t fit for the bin.

I paid for the postage back because I just wanted to be done with her. She then left negative feedback for me which also stated that she’d paid the return postage!

HappyViewer · 22/10/2026 22:53

Fuming is very dramatic.

Lilyandfrog · 22/10/2026 23:09

@HappyViewer oh I completely agree, I know I'm being dramatic 😂. I've calmed down about it now!

I've had similar in the past, I had a buyer try and make out they had never received an item but because they had signed for it they got caught out, they then left me a negative review saying my item was dirty etc it wasn't and i have about 200 5 star reviews so it was clear it's untrue. You can reply to the review you've been left which is what I did so any future buyers can see what really happened. Make you sure you leave her negative feedback and report to vinted.
