What's everyone up to this Thursday night?

On the trip of a lifetime to New York with my two teens using inheritance (as a result of losing both my parents)..

We have had such a wonderful few days but today, everyone has hit their limit of 'fun' so we've found a gaming lounge in Chinatown.. the teens are plugged in and I've started a tab at the bar 😁

This isn't a moan at all, by the way - the flight/journey out was pretty shite (delayed flight and then the backseat tv's on just our row of three weren't working so almost 9 hours on a plane - daytime flight - with nothing! Truly 'first world problem' but not the best start!) and we have packed in sooo much in the 4 days we've been here.. I think we all just need some mindlessness!

I don't plan on getting shitfaced as we're out later to The Beetle House (where its Halloween, 365 days a year!) but the bartender is treating me to weird and wonderful US cocktails.. current taste sensation is The Last Word, a prohibition-era JOY!

So, what's everyone else up to?

Oh OP that sounds delightful.
I love New York.

I'm in my PJ's snuggled up with my dog .

Sonolanona · 22/10/2026 21:31

Pjs, rewatching Grey's Anatomy (my comfort show :D ) sipping an alcohol free gin and tonic. Cat on my lap, literally under this laptop and the dog is dreaming about chasing squirrels I think as she's pedalling and squealing 😁
Dh is away tonight, DS2 is reading upstairs.
Tomorrow I have my DGS aged 5 as it's an inset day so I'm gathering my energy for the whirlwind he is!

SanFranBear · 22/10/2026 21:34

Ooh, there is something just wonderful about snuggling in pj's!

I'm on cocktail number two, a C-Stick (which I think is a gaming reference 😁) but it's fruity and a little less strong!

Teens enjoying playing with their US friends as they're all just a few timezones apart for the first time!

Sonolanona · 22/10/2026 21:46

Good luck rainallnight !! It's never too late to drive :)

CaribbeanCupcake · 22/10/2026 21:50

So jealous!! NYC is my fave!

another one in pjs snuggled up with the dog here. Trying to find the energy to go to bed!

WorthySloth · 22/10/2026 21:55

I’m at work 😊 been here since 8am and here until 8am tomorrow. Just trying to summon the enthusiasm to make my bed up so I can go to sleep

SanFranBear · 22/10/2026 22:00

@Rainallnight - sending all the luck in the world - driving can really set you free and Sonolanona is right, never too late!

Sleep tight when you get there, @WorthySloth - hats off to you for the 24h shift!!

I'm on the parent bed in hospital with my DS who has epilepsy and had a fit in the night and we couldn't wake him up this morning. He is now much better though needed a strong anti-epileptic, he's telling me he wants to go home and reciting his medical history. We saw his consultant though and we'll be home in the morning - it might be a virus but they're checking for bacteria too.

SanFranBear · 22/10/2026 23:00

Oh no, feel better @drspouse's DS. Hope you're home soon...

I'm on cocktail number 3, a YellowFlash which is tequila, various fruit juices and a tropical redbull! Surprisingly tasty!!

Watching traitors and having a wee wine.

drspouse · 23/10/2026 08:38

I did manage to watch most of Traitors and DS is feeling much better this morning though we are both tired.

I failed 🤦🏻‍♀️ Something weird happened with the hazard test and it said 8 out of 14 of my clips had broken a rule and would score zero.

thanks for all the well wishes, though, it was very nice!

SanFranBear · 24/10/2026 05:01

Oh no - I'm so sorry to hear that, @Rainallnight ... you'll nail it next time although sounds like something might have gone a bit screwy with their system?

About to hit the hay on our last night in NYC and housekeeping appear to have bundled up DS's PJs when they were sorting the room - he is very unimpressed!
