The clocks go back this weekend folks

We change from BST to GMT onSunday 25th October at 2am BST - it seems a bit early this year but it is always done on the last Sunday in October.

So we all get an extra hour in bed... except everyone with small children, pets, horses, cows that need milking etc etc etc.

For the poor people who work nights it’s brutal.

I speak from experience.

I'm working a night shift, so not good for me. So they can't expect miracles the Sunday morning 😆

Yeah, DH used to work nights, so I get it.

I’m one of ‘those’ people who likes the darker evenings so this makes me very happy indeed. I know it’s not good for those who are dependent on the light for work and safety etc though.

I used to have to work the extra hour, but get this, we didn’t get paid for it!

To make matters worse, we wouldn’t always make up this deficit because it wasn’t guaranteed we’d be rota’d for when the clocks went forward.

Was what you were paid for those hours compared with the hours you actually worked take you below NMW for that day?

Not sure, I can’t remember, was years ago. Could well have been!

It's always a great pub quiz question, when they ask which month lasts the longest in the UK. It usually has people scratching their heads, as there are 7 months with 31 days... but they often forget that only one of them has an extra hour!

Always messes with my sleep pattern for a few days!
