But to find one who has her own home and is happy to move him in quickly, even when she has DC.

I know two middle aged men, who have basically spent the last 20 years cheating on their partner and then moving in with the OW. They've never actually had a home of their own.

These women are intelligent, accomplished home owners. Often with children, and not only do they take him in they end up doing all his childcare (EOW) too, until he cheats on her and moves on again.

Well clearly they find it easy because the women are willing to let it happen.

What other explanation could there be OP?

It goes both ways, though. My friend, who is 50, rich, divorced, intelligent, runs his own big engineering firm, and is tall, unusually-good-looking and athletic (still makes veteran records in his sport), just got dumped by his girlfriend of four years.

You don’t mention if he’s actually kind…

It's sort of an equivalent of wearing a fake wedding ring. You know It's fake, everybody else knows It's fake but it takes the heat off.

You've got somebody. You're not a threat to other insecure women who think single women are in some way, "After their man."

He's a buffer to other men, "Trying it on."

He might be of some practical use occasionally, although he generally creates yet more work.

You don't particularly care for him or him for you but you both kid yourselves on. Both of you are quietly planning your exit.

Might be good company for each other in certain circumstances and, "What the heck?"

I tried it myself for a while but then I came to my senses.

Must be said that there was no cheating involved in my scenario. Just accepting a bit of a woe is me, divorced type.

Same reason that many deadbeat men in prison have multiple kids by multiple partners - women make some really shit choices sometimes and lack self-respect.

LlynTegid · 21/10/2026 20:09

Men who treat women like this are not ostracised, not any others who are serially unfaithful.

Shadesofscarlett · 21/10/2026 20:12

I think they choose vulnerable women and trot out the my wife does not understand me etc, and they fall for it.

didnttellasoul · 21/10/2026 20:13

Well they fall for the same spiel the first partners did.

KindPineapple · 22/10/2026 16:38

Because one woman’s trash…?

IMTHECRAZYOLDLADY · 22/10/2026 18:02

My ex, has moved in with a professional highly intelligent, educated woman who owns her own three storey house. He is a serial liar, domestic abuser, manipulative deluded arsehole. She ties herself up in knots to keep him happy. She has gone from bright eyed to ashen looking.
