Hmm. The problem is that a lot of the things that make people happy, like meaningful work, will be destroyed by AI. There is also a correlation between levels of inequality in a country and happiness, and AI is going to make inequality worse. So, it's fine to say that some of the money used to fund AI should be ploughed back into promoting happiness, but the problem is that AI itself is going to be a big barrier to happiness.
