… insert your own ending.

For me it is teacher tired after a school trip. My first time as trip lead on an overseas trip. Got back yesterday and I’m physically and mentally exhausted. The responsibility for looking after 25 teenagers for 6 days has meant not much sleep. Plus all the activities we did.

Don’t get me wrong it was incredible and I got to do things that I have never done before. And they were brilliant on the trip- so many fantastic conversations and lots of laughter. But it was so nice to sleep in my own bed and today will be on the sofa with crappy tv and my dogs listening to the rain.

So what is your so tired moment? So tired you feel you could sleep for a week.

(Disclaimer as it is bound to come up: I’m not saying that only teachers work hard or get very tired)

Five consecutive nights shifts on a busy amu ward! I was genuinely less exhausted when ds was a new born

Travelling 6-7 hours for a full day of meetings, then drinks, then having to get up and log in the next day

I have insomnia and haven't ever slept well, the worst tired I've felt as an adult is having to move house on 48 minutes sleep.

Six weeks of sleeping with one ear listening in case our phone rings with a call from hospital saying our loved one had passed away

…end of term full time teacher with 7 month old who didn’t sleep more than 35 mins at a time + 4 year old (so felt like I hadn’t slept in 5 years at that point) + DH who had a bit of a breakdown and checked out.

It was awful. I remember sitting next to the washing machine crying because I was so tired but I needed it to finish so I could put the washing in the dryer before I went to bed.

I went part time the following year. Those years are just a blur now, no idea how I survived.

Good benchmarking exercise.
