We moved in to our house in July, after completing renovation works in it.
We couldn’t wait to move into our own house.
The issue is the neighbours - a man is renting the house with his two sons (17 and 11), and he smokes weed in the garden all the time and I don’t know how but it’s so strong that even with closed windows we can really smell it inside our house!
I really hate the smell but what can we do?!
My daughter and I both have asthma and we have a cat and a dog so air freshener products or nice smelly candles are not an option.

Really feel for you, my MIL had this and has had a lung removed, severe breathing issues, it was literally coming through everywhere from next door.
In her circumstances she was able to report it to the neighbours social housing landlord and there was action taken.
Your first step is to find out who the landlord is. If SH, contact directly. If a private landlord a few quid on the land registry should help you find out who owns the property, and you can take it from there.

I’m so sorry this happened to your MIL and that she’s so unwell!
We believe from what the neighbour said that he is privately renting.
I’ll have a look on LR, I just hope there is an address for the LL that’s not the same as this property’s address!

Thanks, yes it was dealt with 👍she's still with us too late 80s! I hope that works out for you- please update when you can.

Have you met them in person yet and asked them maybe to move up the garden a bit?

I think my approach would be to ask them, and tell them you have no issue with them smoking weed, but is there any way they could move upwind a bit and explain about your asthma etc.

If you don't get a positive response, then go the next step to the LL.

I'd even consider buying them a little tent like shelter for the Winter lol. Sorry, that was genuine, keep the smoke in their tent, but it could work to help a bit. The thing is, they are doing it outdoors and not much else you can do I think apart from asking them to minimise it as much as they can. IF they are reasonable about it that is.
