Infertility - similar experiences wanted

**I have posted this earlier today in infertility but I think it's quite quiet over there.

Hi, I'm looking for stories of similar circumstances, just for seeing how things progressed for others.

Background is that I am 37, have been pregnant 3 times, lost all 3 (1 miscarriage, 1 fallopian ectopic, 1 ovarian ectopic), first pregnancy was age 27. Had a break after first 2 losses and started trying again at age 31. Tried for almost 2 years and then got referred for fertility investigations, got pregnant naturally during that time which was the last loss.

I needed to lose weight for IVF, which I have now just about done, about 7lb to go, I've lost 3.5 stone since March this year.

Recently got in touch with clinic and to my surprise they're bringing me in for a weight check and a general catch up as it's been a year since I had an appt with them (I thought because it had been another year they would make me get another referral, which is what they did after the last loss).

There's been a gap since the loss and now because my mental health just suffered massively. I guess I'm just looking to see how it progressed for others once they hit their target weight, I know I can't start until I'm the exact weight they require, but do they start getting anything booked in etc...

Thanks if you made it this far!

I didn’t hit the target weight, wish I had done because the pregnancy would have been a lot easier. I had a similar situation to you, then three rounds of ivf which was gruelling - but pregnancy, loss and birth are more gruelling in my honest opinion. Then my last two embryos were transferred, one of which is now my beautiful 4 year old daughter. In the process I also conceived a baby boy naturally. I had my first at 38 and my second at 40.

Wish you all the luck in the world, keep your head strong and go in with confidence xx

Ah thank you for the reply! Was your IVF private or did they allow you to still go ahead without reaching target?

You don't have to answer, how did you find it having your babies at 38 and 40?

As long as you’re fit and healthy you’ll be fine. At 38 and 40 I still felt/ feel young and capable of the hard work of having very tiny kids. I’m also a lot more financially better off than I would have been 10 years ago, meaning I can give my kids a better life. The biggest thing is that I’m also more emotionally aware, as is DH.
We went NHS, then covid happened, so we were on a long waiting list. We went privately in the end.
