Smart trousers with a crease down the middle- yay or nay?

I realist this is one for Style & Beauty but I found these trousers in a charity shop and I reckon they'd be ok for work and I'm not up to asking the Style & Beauty regulars.

So thing is, I'm totally oblivious to fashion etc. I can get a refund if I decide not to keep them but it's nice fabric and they hang well. Somewhere between straight leg, although quite loose, and bootleg I think. As i say, I'm a fashion idiot. Please advise about the crease down the middle of the leg. Yay or nay?
thanks in advance

As long as they look nice, the crease is immaterial. I wear tailored trousers for work and almost all of them still have a crease.

Although I do work in an office, may be less practical on a farm, digging a hole in the road or a mountain rescue job! 😁

They seem to have come back into fashion

I’m having the opposite that I see them and I think oh no

Because I associate them with the days when it was totally unfashionable

I think, if you’re a certain age or over a certain age, then that’s an issue

I think you will get better opinions on the Style and beauty board or at least they will have a better idea of how these will be received

I think it’ll be fine because they are back in fashion

@Thingamebobwotsit thanks, yes it's for office wear

Nay

I see these kind a lot on our 25-30 junior staff or interns (20-25) so I do assume they are back in fashion.

Based on other things I see in some shops fashion history is recycling itself again at the moment.

Weirdconditionaltense · 20/10/2026 17:37

Ok thanks everyone. I'm going to wear them ( and see if I can dodge the fashion police if they disapprove)

Absolutely wear them! Lots of ‘crease front’ tailored trousers in the shops right now

Can you post a pic of them on?

socks1107 · 20/10/2026 18:25

Both my work trousers have a crease down the front. Didn’t even realise it was a thing to have one

mrsmacmc · 20/10/2026 18:30

Creases give me the fear as I can never get them looking sharp or straight enough 😂

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 20/10/2026 19:18

Is this a crease which is sewn in, or are you talking about ironing one? I can't see a photo. I dislike the former, for some reason I always think it makes the trousers look cheaper.

howcanihelp2020 · 20/10/2026 19:21

I like them and wear them to work when I’m in the office, my 20 something daughter also wears them, I like the crease, either sewn in or ironed, personally.

Weirdconditionaltense · 21/10/2026 11:36

Sorry, yes of course I should have posted pictures. I sent them to my daughter, she said she had no idea so I deleted them..recovered them so sending them but neither pic shows the crease as clearly as it looks when I m wearing them..

They are just plain black basic trousers, they are fine, the crease is neither here nor there,

A crease is quite 'in' at the moment, I think. Those look perfectly fine. For a crease to look good the fabric needs to be decent and the trousers need to hang well. You say they do, so wear and enjoy!

I have wide, navy, Paul Smith woolen trousers with a sewn in seam at the front.
I cannot tell you how much I wear them. They float with any look.
