What’s it like with 3 children when partner works late?

I need advice.

I work part time and my partner full time. We are wanting a 3rd but I’m just worried as he works 2pm-10.30pm and only gets 2 days off a week which are random. I’m just worried if I’d be able to cope by myself, I know they ain’t little for long so I’d be stupid to let this put me off!!!

we have a 6 year old at full time school and a 3 year old who goes to full time nursery school at the same place

i think id be fine in the Day as it will be me and the newborn but its after school rush and weekends with 3 kids, i know it will be overwhelming trying to sort tea, bath, with 2 kids and a newborn. Where do you put the newborn?

is anyone else in a similar position? How are you finding it?

I did it with a DSD and then DT (only 19 months between them).

It was okay but I was really strict with boundaries and routine.

Tbh, it was harder when exH was there.

I’ve got a picture of DS3 in the carrycot part of his pram shoved in the bottom of the shower whilst I bathed the other 2 😂

To answer about where to put baby…bouncy chairs saved me.

Just to add that it was probably easier for me too, as mine were all on a similar routine.

My friends have just had their thirds, the babies just slot in. It’s a very chilled

This sounds very similar to my current situation. My 3rd is 3 months old now. Yeh the evenings can be full on. I won't lie, it is my least favourite part of the day to do on my own 😬
But to get through it it's a simple dinner, that I unusually prepare earlier in the day. Calming TV for the older 2 if needed and low expectations 😅
I put the baby down in her cot while I'm doing the others their story and tucking in. She will cry, but that's just the way it has to be at the moment. I then settle her to sleep.
I feel bad as the bed time can be a bit rushed for my eldest as she is my most easy going and will happily read to herself is she isn't quite ready to sleep. But I will make it up on the days my husband is here and spend more quality time with each child at bed time.
If you go for it, just remember it's an ever evolving situation, it won't be hard forever and just get partner as involved as possible on the days he is home.

Thankyou everyone, you have made me feel better haha. He may have a choice to do 6am-2pm in the future but I’m not sure which would be better???? Or stay at 2pm-10:30????
