Was looking at replacing doors and was thinking of solid oak but the prices are crazy. Howden's do a veneer oak one called the Holdenbury. Anyone got these and any good?

We have, we treated them with osmo oil and they look lovely.

Originally, I wanted solid oak because I'd got it into my head that veneer doors are more prone to warping, scratching and getting damaged, and I really don't want to end up having to replace them again in a few years' time. But I'm wondering if I've got the wrong idea about good-quality veneer doors!

I'm not against veneer at all if they're good quality, look lovely and will stand the test of time. I just want to make sure we're choosing something durable that we won't regret.

Are they quite heavy and do they pass as oak to the untrained eye?

I cant say re the comparison with real oak, sorry. Ive never had solid oak doors (too expensive) and I don't know how heavy they are, I didn't fit them. They look really nice though!
