China Eastern Airways Boarding Pass incorrect

Anyone have any ideas/tips/help please.

Have checked in and the boarding pass is wrong - I've checked in and I've spelt my name correctly and I've double checked - but it has spelt my name incorrectly on the boarding pass. On mine it has missed out a letter and on my child's it has added two random letters.

Would really appreciate any help- do you think I can go to the airport and get it sorted before flying? I'm trying helplines but no answer.

I’m going back a few years but I have had china eastern boarding passes corrected at the airport (in china) - in my case, they didn’t print my middle name but because it is on my passport it was deemed not to match properly. I’d probably go to the airport early to sort it out.

I would have thought you could get it sorted at the airport, tbh I didn't even know you could get boarding passes in advance anymore, I always get mine when I check my suitcase in at the airport.

You could try asking on one of the travel subreddits, they tend to be full of people who travel a lot. I know there's a specific sub called travelchina that might have people who have experience of flying with China Eastern.

Ok, maybe panicking about nothing - it says Sample and I need to get an actual boarding pass when I check in (can you tell I am a budget flyer normally)

Has anyone had this before? Thanks

It should be fine. They have the details you booked the tickets with and you have your passport. I like to take a printout of the booking confirmation email I get just in case, but I've never had to actually show it- I just show them my passport, they check on the system that I've booked, and they hand over my boarding pass!

Thanks @Noodledog I will have a look at the subredit

I tend to fly Ryan air- no physical boarding pass, no human check in, so this is all very different.

I know all the information I have put in is correct so fingers crossed

They do tend to want the name on the boarding pass to match exactly the name on the passport IMO.

I had this once at Gatwick, my first name can be shortened and I put the shortened version in the ticket and have the longer version in the passport.

When I got to Gatwick and tried to board I was rejected. I had to go to a desk and have the boarding pass changed. It didn't take too long but there were not too many queues. If it had been last minute/a rush then it may have been awkward.

They did not charge me any money but I have heard people before have been charged to have the name changed.

I would ring up the airline in advance and ask them. They should have a service number and English speaking operators.

That's what I always thought - but the fault is with their system - I have put all the details exactly as they are in my passport and the computer has done weird stuff.

I am on hold but will have to go back to work soon

In case anyone else ever has this issue- just go to check in- they are brilliant and will sort it out and print them for you.

I was going to say this but saw your update. I had an issue with my son’s name on a China Eastern flight and they were brilliant. I was surprised the customer service had an English option as I was calling from inside China. They didn’t seem to fully resolve the issue but the checkin desk sorted it. The Chinese airlines don’t generally have a big enough character limit for longer Latin-alphabet names so you get some interesting abridgements sometimes.
