Anyone else got an adventurous ISA with their bank?
I’ve opened one and have been paying £50 a month into it, but so far I haven’t really noticed much of a change in the balance.
For anyone who’s had one for a while, how long did it take before you started seeing any decent growth? Have you found it worth it in the long run, or have you had periods where you’ve lost money?
I’d love to hear your experiences, especially if you’re investing monthly rather than putting in a lump sum. 😊

It will be dependent on the APR and how often the interest is paid

An adventurous ISA is S&S so no interest to be paid and no APR.

OP S&S are for long term, minimum 5 years but preferably 10 or longer. You will see ups and downs but as long as you dont sell and consolidate a loss then in the long term it will far outperform cash. Best thing you can do is keep paying in regularly and just leave it alone.

Yes…IME definitely worth it in the long run but along the way some periods when the investment has lost value. Not quite the same as ‘losing money’ because you’ve still got the investments and most will eventually go up again.

When Trump had his tariff tantrum they went down about 15% recently. You need to be thinking decades really.

How much is in it? My DD opened hers with £10k and it’s grown.

How long have you been paying in and what fees is the bank charging you?

I am not sure what an adventurous ISA invests in but if you are investing for the long term, big fees can really eat into your return over time. You should ideally be buying any one of the low cost global index funds, pay in monthly and forget about it. The Ongoing Charges Figure (OCF) of the fund should ideally not exceed 0.20%.

I don't trust banks at all and their funds .
I choose my own in my stocks and shares ISA.
You just buy large funds with a little of everything in ,low cost and until ai gets us all it's hard to loose.

Yes they have been on a roller coaster every time he said the straight was open mine shot up and I was able to skim off them ,then it went down ,then back up again and so on.
I didn't complain because I was able to skim off the top because I needed that money. Several hundred up one day vanished the next unless I took it.
I've left it to carry on growing now.
