Maternity and redundancy

I need advice. I was promoted last year and this year went into mat leave in July. We had a new C suite who decided to restructure the team. According to them not to cut people or costs. They came up with the structure and the new roles. When I left part of my job was distributed to two other people plus a replacement that was hired at a lower position.
with the restructure i was offered 4 roles but this were all lower positions. The only other person who was in same position as me was offered better/higher roles. I spoke with the Chief and was promised a suitable role and that they would contact me. Nothing so far and emailed them last week. On Friday was told by a colleague that roles were assigned and my name came under one of the lower positions.

How long were you on maternity leave as the length you take impacts your rights.

If you've taken up to 26 weeks' maternity leave: Someone has the right to return to the same job. If you've taken more than 26 weeks' maternity leave: You have the right to return to the same job unless the employer has a genuine reason why this is not possible. In these cases, you have the right to return to a suitable alternative role, the job must be suitable and appropriate. It cannot be worse than the previous job. For example, it must have the same or similar:

  • pay
  • benefits
  • holiday leave and pay
  • location
  • seniority

I have taken 52 weeks off. Salary will stay the same from what I was told, in terms of seniority is not is a step backwards as if I have not been promoted.
