I am not sure if I was assaulted or not

I'm still married but we've taken a break because we were considering divorce and thought that some time apart might help with this decision.

I reconnected with an ex and we met twice, first time just for a date but nothing else. Yesterday we met again and kissed, which I was fine with. But then he went on to suddenly force himself on me and it took me a few moments to tell him to stop. It happened so fast but he did stop but got angry at me, but I don't think I ever made any sign that I wanted this and then but now I'm questioning myself.
If I'm honest the one person I want to tell is my husband but I don't think I can because it would be such a slap in the face even though we agreed to take a break. I'm not sure why I posted here but I am not sure if I should talk to someone or who even.

He raped you? Is that what you’re saying?

Agatha1989 · 18/10/2026 19:18

You didn’t consent so yes, you were assaulted. Report him. I bet you’re not the first woman he’s done this to.

“It happened so fast but he did stop”

It sounds like an assault.

Very, sorry this happened to you

Report to the local Police.
You have been assaulted.
If you wish to share the horrid experience with your husband, do so. He, as your friend, will probably be very upset for you.

Also taking a break from your relationship could be clarifying but less so if you are going to involve yourself in new relationships during the break time. Take time to reflect on what you want to be doing in your everyday life. What will be gratifying? Can your marriage sustain satisfaction, companionship, joy, adventure?

He did assault you, the idiot probably assumed you were up for it being on a relationship break and out with him, and didnt think to. check . Thank God he stopped. Tell your husband if you need to. It could help clarify how you feel about each other.

If you told him to stop and did not consent then it is assault.

Report him to the police.

But will anything even happen if I report it?
I have already booked an STI appointment and I can maybe ask there too.
