Has anyone got covid recently and how is it right now?

I was a way for a few days last weekend. Coming home I met a lady I know and she said she had a sore throat and she thinks it could be covid. She was in good form though. She didn't test. It could have been a cold though. Nobody knows. She just continued on as normal.

I felt well after that. Yesterday, I did feel a very slight issue with my throat. It felt more dry than sore to be honest. I also got the covid jab yesterday.

I feel reasonably okish now today however there is definitely something developing. I feel some mucus at the back of my nose. There's a slight drying throat. There is a slight cough here and there. All in all it's all fairly mild for now whatever this is.

I took medicine earlier in the day. About 4 pm. I have a low grade fever of 37.6. I usually run like this. Usually for me with covid I get a high temperature with covid and it's often just stubborn too.

I don't have any body aches or pains and no other symptoms. I don't know if this is just a cold or if it's going to develop into more intensity over the next few more days.

It's just work will be very demanding for me for the next 2 weeks. I am fucking dreading it and above all the times to start developing symptoms it's now. I would be able to manage beyond these two upcoming weeks but now. I know it's still mild right and hopefully it will stay like that and improve.

Has anyone here had covid recently how was it for you? Did it start of mild like this?

I am going to be fucked if I get worse.

I had plenty of mixing in public to have exposures. It could have been from anywhere - public transport, airport, the lady I know,

I had covid at the start of September. Started fairly mild, just fatigue and muscle aches on day one then a bit of a headache and temp on day two. Day three I was wiped out and had three days in bed. Has taken about five weeks to start feeling less fatigued

AutumnClouds · 17/10/2026 22:58

I always seem to catch it when it’s doing the rounds. I was very ill with it a couple of weeks ago, high fever and stomach issues as well as sore throat etc, but after one day in bed (and bathroom) and one day convalescent moping, I was practically fully recovered except for a bit of residual tiredness by the evening. I do think you need to rest not push through with covid though.

Why assume covid and not a cold or flu? If you tested what difference would it make to how you responded?

Just take it easy, have fuids etc and wait it out whatever it is.

Crocja · 17/10/2026 23:05

I am due to be 7 days, morning and night, night and day on call from Tuesday. I will get some breaks and sleep but still on call all the time. I still won't get a day off after that and it will be a regular week straight away and my next day off will be the 31st of Oct.

If this turns out to be covid I am fucked.

Youre overthinking it. You said that you feel ok, focus on that and keep busy.

Just got over mine. It was all in my head and face. Sinus, migraine, teeth and jaw ache (all my teeth not one singular), blocked ears, blocked nose, lots of phlegm. Has a cough for a few days that peaked at day 5 but calmed down to nothing by day 9.
Low grade temp, body tired but not achy.
Lasted around 6 days.

DreadNowt · 17/10/2026 23:10

I guess you'll have to call in sick if you are too unwell to work.

Like the other poster says, it's good you feel OK now. You sound a bit anxious, maybe try some strategies to manage that x

I had it about 7 weeks ago following a sinus infection and I’m still not back to normal food wise or tummy wise.

Ive also just been diagnosed with post viral fatigue syndrome.

Truthfully I feel awful.

The phlegm. Oh dear God, never I have experienced it like that before.

And My sinus - I now believe my sinus infection was actually the start of the covid. I’ve not felt well since the 3rd week of July.

@Crocja thank you. how are you feeling now?

I have had one of the worst colds I have ever had. Day 5 here and I feel so wiped out. Totally congested, runny nose and loss of appetite. I hadn't really considered if it could be Covid.

What has baffled me is that 5 weeks ago I was sick for a while week and had such a sore throat and fever. The swallowing needles type. I got better but then had a low grade persistent cough then now, sick again. I'm so fed up. I never get this unwell.

Wincher · 17/10/2026 23:18

I had what I think might have been it recently. For the first few days I just felt rotten, tired, achy etc. Had one day off work but that was it. Then started coughing etc esp at night. Then about a week in I totally lost my voice. Gradually got better but still not feeling 100% after nearly two weeks

@Crocja thank you. how are you feeling now?

You're welcome. I hope you get better soon.

I feel ok and well. There's definitely something brewing in me and it's not too serious and hopefully it will stay like this.

I am just anxious because work has me scheduled with some ungodly hours. If it gets worse, I am fucked. I will be expected to still go to work and do day and night, night and day on call work.

It’s probably the after effects of the Covid jab you’re feeling? I’ve heard it’s pretty brutal on day one.

Modernschooling · 17/10/2026 23:38

Why will you be fucked if it’s Covid? It’s on its less potent version now. You’ll feel rough for a week before, like death for a couple of days and then recover the week after.

MargaretThursday · 17/10/2026 23:39

Friend started with covid just over 3 weeks ago. She got back from hospital last Wednesday. She's still really struggling to breath and keeps worrying she shoukd go back in for more oxygen. I've lent her my oxometer today, so hopefully she will see improvement.
Never known her even slightly ill before, so a bit of a shock all round.

If it's covid, any other job and I might be allowed a few days off while sick, get into my pyjamas and recover. My work has me scheduled for 7 days on call work. I might end up with a 20 hour work day. I might now but that has happened before too. I won't be able to cope with a covid infection and sickness and a job that won't give me time off.

The after affects of covid jab?
I would expect to see some body aches, headaches, tiredness as after affects. I have a dryish throat and mucus. I doubt a vaccine would do that.

I was away last weekend and flew home earlier in the week and then I met a lady with a sore throat so there's plenty of mixing and risk of infection there.

Hopefully it's just a cold and it won't develop into anything else.

What’s your job?

if you’re ill, you’re ill.

I’ve had a cough & tickly throat for a week now. Some fatigue but not dreadful. Not tested but it feels like Covid did before
