First Teen Party...Advice?

18 year old DD and friend are cohosting their first teen party at our house. My DD is very nervous about 'getting it right' and her friends having a good time - she's trying to bring together her different friendship groups from college/hobbies/etc.

They all seem nice, not particularly rowdy or wild. It seems the usual thing is a few drinks, some music, bit of karaoke and so on. Some drink alcohol, but not all. Obv will make sure there's food and soft drinks for those who want them.

I'm leaving much of the organising to them, but want to just cast an eye to make sure she's covered what needs attention, so it all goes well. I wasn't a party teen, nor was DH, and it's new territory for us as well!

Any tips? We're probably going to be in the house, but a floor or so up and leaving them to it.

Provide lots of mixers and glasses
Bins for lots of bottles/cans/rubbish
Cleaning stuff if someone spills something or is sick. Let them clean up themselves (and tell her how to dispose of, ds and friends told me in morning if took ages to get sick to go down the kitchen sink 🤮🤢🤣, they did a surprisingly good job cleaning up, I didn’t notice it until they told me )
Make sure toilets had plenty of loo roll and towels. (Expect queues for the toilets)
if you are staying in get earplugs to sleep

I'd make sure there are things like frozen pizzas in the freezer, easy access cleaning products that won't damage your fabrics when they haphazardly try to clean up spillages, and that if you are in the house you have everything you need upstairs and don't appear unless summoned.

Is this a thing now? ‘Back in my (millenial!) days’ we only had house parties that parents didn’t know about and definitely weren’t present for 😬

It was with ds and his friends @crocodilesandwich , we were in the house but stocked up with crisps, drink and had the en suite so never left our bedroom, even with various bumps and raised voices downstairs. Ds knew to come see us if any problems. We saw him for 10 secs when he brought in a (huge) roughly cut slice of birthday cake. Probably his gf told him to take us some 🤣

the silicone ear plug came in very handy.

My dad was picking up condoms from my 18th for weeks, in November so lots of condoms and some gloves. Edited to say they were in the bushes in the garden, not in the house.

When is the party and how many people? Are you expecting them to use the garden, if you have one? And are you rural or in a town, do you know how her friends will be getting home or are you prepared to have several teens sticking around all night?

I have teen twins who have hosted a few parties. We’ve always been present as they are only 16. For their 16th we said music off by 11pm as we are in a cul de sac, and we let all our neighbours know. Due to their age we didnt provide alcohol but a lot of kids brought their own. We supplied lots of pizza, snacks, cookies, soft drinks. Get lots of plastic cups and napkins / kitchen roll and have bin bags out. If in the garden consider a gazebo and heaters depending on weather if you don’t want them indoors all night. But really depends how many - we had over 50 kids here so really had to use the garden even though it was cold so I hired some heaters. It was their birthday so I didn’t mind spending a bit on the party.

Over the summer they had a post prom party and it was very hot, loads of kids stayed over and DS put up our large tent in the garden. No one slept and that one was a bit of a nightmare tbh.

they’re having another one for Halloween (I must be a total mug) and I’ve said 11pm finish and no one staying over and won’t be forking out for loads of extras, that’s on them now and it’s not their birthday.
