27, £140k in assets, what can i do to improve my financial life?

Hi all,
I'm 27F, based in Edinburgh, and disabled, which means my career progression and earning potential may be a bit more limited than average.
I earn £35k a year. Financially, I have around £40k in savings that I've built up myself by living at home, and I also received a £100k gift/inheritance from my mum.
When I look online, especially on finance forums, I feel miles behind. There seem to be so many people my age earning £60k-£100k+, buying houses, investing heavily, and generally appearing much further ahead in life.
On the other hand, I know a lot of people my age have little in savings, are renting, have debts, or are struggling to save a deposit.
If you were in my position, what would your next step be: buy a property, keep investing, or continue saving?
Interested in honest opinions, especially from people outside the usual high-earning London/Finance bubble.

Most 27 year olds are doing well if they’ve saved £20k towards a deposit, have a car on lease and a bit of credit card debt.

Only 0.5% of 27 year olds are earning £100k.

You have nothing to worry about.

Ah maybe there is a plethora of wealthy 20 somethings concerned about their meagre £100k + financial assets. Apologies, I thought you'd posted before. You should look up the other poster, you can console each other. Cheers up @YourWaryPlumBalonz , there is at least one other young woman out there is a similar state of financial distress

Buy a property and stop comparing yourself to others.

OP has received an inheritance so has lost someone.

and they have a disability which means their earning power may be limited compared to the norm. So they want advice on what to do with the money they have.

if someone asked you whether £140k was enough for ever - I don’t think anyone would say yes

I’d become an adult, move out from home by buying a property, enjoy life a little and save / invest what I can.

There was an almost identical post recently which was clearly a brag, I think people just thought it was the same person at it again.

When I was 27 I had about £27 to my name so can see how not everyone would relate!

You should buy a property. Start off small say a one bedroomed flat in the best area you can afford. Should have a nice choice if you're based in Edinburgh.
