i currently have 2 children, planning to start trying for a 3rd. Both my first two were natural births and out on the same day. I’m obviously nervous it might not happen like that again. My partner would only get 2 weeks off paternity leave and he said he will try and book 2 weeks holidays so he can have 1 month off with us once the baby is born (when we do conceive)

my question is, how did you cope once your partner went back to work? As 4 weeks isn’t a lot for recovery? And I’d have to do school runs etc and I know they say no driving for 6 weeks ish.

im thinking ahead of myself just INCASE I had to have one in the future and my partner was at home with me.

About to have my 3rd c section and partner just gets two weeks off. Last two times I was feeling a lot lot better by two weeks - I could have baby in the sling and move about fine and go for a walk and do normal things etc. I think I drove at 3 weeks, as the 6 weeks isn’t really a proper rule, it’s just when you feel able to safely drive again. If your partner can have four weeks off you’ll be absolutely fine!

Things that helped were taking it really easy the first few days/weeks as you don’t want to get a secondary infection that could set your healing back. Anyway if you’ve had two normal births it’s a very strong likelihood you’ll have another one!

I had a c section with my third. DP went back to work after two weeks and I actually felt ok by that point.

I had a c section with my second and my husband had 2 weeks off. I was doing the school run after that, only a short walk but did involve a steep hill and I managed ok.

Is there any reason you think you’d need a c section this time around?

I just had my third baby, all 3 vaginal deliveries. There was a point my third was breech but I said to the consultant that I wanted to opt for a breech vaginal delivery if it came to it and I did my research into the best positions to help with this etc. Luckily they turned in time anyway though!

Basically don’t stress but if you don’t want to have a c section then go into it believing that you are having another vaginal delivery. If anything comes up to challenge it then just do your research as to whether a vaginal birth is still a valid option and if you’d be supported in that. With you already having had two successful vaginal births they should be encouraging that again if possible anyway.
