we are planning our sons 18th birthday party black tie.. any ideas on thoughts on things like drinks, djs, photo booths gratefully received ..

Where are you holding it ?
Would the bar at the venue not take care of drinks ?

I've never come across a 'black tie' 18th birthday party.

we just thought it might be fun.. any other suggestions

Is he involved in the planning? Does he actually want a black tie event? Photo booths can be hired, along with props. The venue should provide a DJ and a bar, unless you’re hosting at home.

I think the crucial thing is, what does HE want to do ?

A colleague did a James Bond themed 21st birthday for her son - black tie and then they hired a company to do some casino games and they had it at a hotel but they named each table after James Bond film

Regardless of what he wants, when you’ve agreed and oraginsed, accept that come 10pm he is going to want you and your friends and family to leave. And you should - let the teens party without the folks there!
