Airline seat back "organiser" or pocket-shaped item???

Is this a thing? On a recent flight my DH was struggling with decanting from his carry on what he wanted for the long haul flight, so I was thinking if Christmas presents and googled for this. Amazon showed an organiser, but I would be curious to know if anyone had something they have found useful???

I just use a small backpack under the seat in front

Thanks, we're wanting to keep the leg room free for legs though, so looking at this organiser option.

I use a small cross body bag for this purpose. Main carry on goes in overhead locker, and cross body bag stays with me in my seat. I put my passport, purse, phone, headphones, lip balm, tissues and small snacks etc in it. Anything small I might want for the flight. Thought most people did this.

I once used a peg bag on Ryanair (they don't have seat pockets). It worked fine but I was waiting for cabin staff to tell me to remove it! They didn't, It's like this, so cheap, it doesn't matter if it doesn't work for you or you're told to remove it 😊

Just bear in mind that listings for some things on Amazon don’t tally with how you could ever actually use them op. The bag a pp linked - fine. A shoe-type organiser that attaches over-the-seat that some chancer seller has keyword-stuffed with “airplane” or bunged in an AI or photoshopped picture of a plane? Not in a million years would cabin crew allow that (think of the passenger in front). So it really depends on what you’ve seen.

Overthebow · 17/10/2026 11:23

How would that attached to the seat? You couldn’t use anything that went over the seat in front.

VikingNorthUtsire · 17/10/2026 11:26

I guess it depends what his essentials are. There are lots of slim, light containers that would fit into the seat pocket and could hold airpods, cables and a few other bits. If you're looking fit something to hold a big book, thick socks etc, then that's probably a different category of thing.

I just use a cotton tote bag that I can shove under the seat in front. There's still plenty of leg room, how much stuff are you needing?!

FrankAbagnalesLies · 17/10/2026 11:27

I use one of those small fabric promotional tote bags. I can either put it in the seat back pocket or in the space by the window.

A lot of flight organizational asscessories are a waste of money and space. Better to use what you have than tote a single use item around for the rest of the trip.

MyLifeInBooks · 17/10/2026 11:31

I agree, a small bag for under the seat. Or, if you have a window seat, stuff the small bag between the seat and the side of the plane. Works fine.

randomname72 · 17/10/2026 11:34

I just use a packing cube. Or look for “essentials case” “tech case/organiser”. Depends on the larger item he wants to put in it. I always organise before I get on and the cabinet bag goes overheard.

Bitzee · 17/10/2026 11:40

You can’t stick anything over the seat in front of you. Also you’re really overthinking it. Just pack a tote bag, the kind of thing you might use for food shopping, and shove all the stuff specifically needed for in flight e.g. book, headphones, eye mask, water bottle in that and put it under the seat in front. By the time he gets his stuff out to use he’ll still have all the legroom because the bag itself takes up no space. A small backpack would also work, as would a dedicated packing cube from his carry on suitcase to be taken out before it goes up in the overhead.

Something like this to go in the pocket or down by your feet?

I mean, that's just like a bag with no strap. So why not use a small bag? Which can also be used in the airport
