What Halloween films do you watch 🎃

Just realised it's mid October and I've not watched any Halloween films yet. Think I will start tonight after the Traitors.

The Purge
Halloween Town
Hocus Pocus
Beetlejuice
The Shinning
Nightmare on Elm St
Rope

I can't remember what else we usually watch. Any recommendations? I don't like anything really scary.

What is the point honestly 😂

I like to watch The Others, lovely bit of slow burning gothic horror.

Sleepy Hollow is a good shout too though.

Conjuring 1 and 2
Insidious films
The exorcist
The Omen
The Lost Boys

Some great suggestions. How could I have forgotten about the others and the lost boys!

I'm currently watching the old classic Night of the Demon "it's in the trees! It's coming!"

Last week we watched The Thing, another of my all-time favourite films.

I'm a wimp who won't watch graphic horror. My go tos are

Hocus Pocus
The Lost Boys
The Haunted Mansion (Eddie Murphy one)
Caspar
Beetlejuice
Hotel Transylvania
Scooby Doo

I only ever watch horror films, they're how I calm down before bed. On Halloween I watch something completely different.

I can recommend some fabulous zombie films! If you don't like really scary, The Scouts Guide to The Zombie Apocalypse is good and quite funny.

Gotta be Rocky Horror this year in honour of dear Tim Curry...

Tod Browning's Freaks.

Young Frankenstein.

Watched Carnival of Souls last year and loved it, think I'll watch again. Also watched Phantom of the Paradise, but need a year between watchings of that.

Hmm, got me thinking now... 🤔

Oh some more just popped into my head

the hounds of baskerville
The world's end

Not a film but I love all The Simpsons tree house of horrors, me & my son have been watching an episode every morning.
Tucker & Dale vs Evil. What we do in the shadows. Both horror comedies
Horrors - Halloween. Nightmare on Elm Street. Lost boys. IT movies. Also loved IT Welcome to Derry.

Kickinthenostalgia · 16/10/2026 23:05

Hocus pocus without fail on actual Halloween. Not too worried about the others as during September we watched all these years scream movies because I wanted to watch scream 7 and dd14 hadn’t seen any so we did a marathon

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/10/2026 23:09

Just me because DP is really not a fan or horror, but I like to go old school with Rosemary’s Baby and The Wicker Man. Not sure if it counts but I watched The Fly the other night!

Globules · 16/10/2026 23:15

I love Halloween. I watched it with DD a few years ago and she was laughing her head off at it.

Halloween 3 is a particular form of humour with the crazy masks.

Amityville Horror (the original) is my proper jumping movie.

I love the original NOES too.

I might indulge The Ring every now and then.

Get out is a modern Halloween classic in my book.
