DD just turned 4, for the past two weeks she's been teary at beditme, saying it's scary to sleep alone and she doesn't want to be by herself. She eventually calms with a few extra cuddles but it takes quite a bit of effort. We've never co-slept. A couple of nights she's knocked on our door saying she's had a bad dream and comes in our bed. Any advise here? Thanks in advance.

If she is already used to sleeping in her own bed, I would just take her back there, snuggle with her a bit until she goes back to sleep, then go back to my own bed. It's a phase, and if you keep showing her that her bed is a nice, safe place for her to sleep, she will soon move through it.

My kids like it if I take a photo of them sleeping to show them in the morning. Reassures them that I check them in the night like I say I will. After a few nights I was able to say remember I'll check you and they would go to bed much more easily and then check their photo in the morning.
