I find this odd. I now live in a suburb of a small city, originally from a small village. I’ve travelled a lot and worked overseas but honestly where I live now I’ve never encountered anything like it where neighbours in my small cul de sac don’t say hello when walking past each other directly. And since my children have started school I’ve really made an effort to chat to other parents at pick up/drop off, at parties, they seem fine at the time but then will completely walk past me when walking directly past each other, even on a small narrow path when it is just us 2. I find it so strange, these are people I’ve had nice chats with and see regularly at kids parties. I just find it so rude and what sort of example are they setting to their children. I know people have anxiety, adhd, etc but these are people with good jobs who deal with other people in work so why can’t they acknowledge people they walk past? Growing up where I’m from my mum would make me acknowledge everyone she knew even from when I was little, it was a bit much to be honest but it did teach me social skills.
It actually makes me sad for future generations that people can’t just be courteous to each other.
