Did anyone see the clips from Selena Gomez's mental health gala this week? She's named a new award after Martin Short's daughter Katherine, who died in February, and he came up on stage to present it himself.
He said she fought mental illness for years and "did the best she could until she couldn't", and then put it next to the cancer that took his wife. Sometimes diseases are terminal, he said. I had to pause the video for a minute. There's a write-up of what both of them said here https://beautypositive.org/relationships/selena-gomez-martin-short-katherine-short-legacy-award/
Part of me thinks it's incredibly brave and exactly what families need to hear out loud. Part of me wonders how anyone stands up eight months after losing a child and does that in front of a room full of gowns. Could you have done it? Or is that the only way some people get through it?
