Anyone have experience with kidney infections?

I have had a kidney infection and I'm on the last day of my 7-day dose of antibiotics. Does anyone know if I should ask for more antibiotics if I still have symptoms? I'm feeling overall ok in myself (no temperature, no aching joints and eating and drinking normally), but I have lingering back pain and fatigue. Today was my first day back at work and it was a struggle. I finished work at 5:30 and got straight into bed (I was WFH). I've also got a mouth ulcer so I think I'm overall just run down.

I don't know if I need more antibiotics or not? I've been Googling and seen mixed things - some say kidney infections take a while to recover from and other places say if you still have symptoms after your antibiotic course you should go back to the GP? Does anyone know from their own experiences?

I feel your pain. This happened to me recently. I was on the floor day 7, and like a new person by day 8. No idea why. I would request another prescription just in case, what have you got to lose? Hope it passes soon.

Yes a while ago but very painful and debilitating. I would request more meds and re exam if not improving

Maybe ring 111 and ask, I think you can sometimes get phone appointments at some GPs too?

Worth checking with the GP but a friend of mine once had a kidney infection while we were living together and she was so ill with it that she was wiped out for ages, even though the antibiotics had worked.

Go back to check. I needed a second dose. Plus was generally unwell for a couple of months afterwards
