EasyJet phone scam

I received a call today phone number was 01438989304* *the phone ID said easyJet. He knew some of my details, said the call was being recorded for monitoring purposes- usual spiel. Knew I had a flight coming up. He asked me and asked to confirm the rest of my email address and I said it was my initial and surname but he still asked me to confirm how to spell it which made me immediately suspicious.

I said I didn’t believe he was who he said he was. He then sent me an e mail to confirm which had details of my booking on it. He said it was a new service regarding checking that passengers had sufficient baggage allowance and asked me to confirm my booking number which I refused to do telling him it was on the e mail he had just sent me so surely he had it. I told him I didn’t need any changes to my booking and if I did I would do it on the app and put the phone down and immediately changed my passwords for e mail and easyJet.

This was very convincing but I am always so sceptical about stuff like this. I have read several posts on SM with people who have experienced this and - I could see how easily someone could fall for it. Be careful!

What was the email address he sent it from? That should give you a clue if genuine or not.

it was [email protected] which looked very official but is apparently not the correct e mail for them. The e mail had all my details on it. My booking reference, the flight I had booked. It all looked very real.
