I think I've managed to burn my bum

I have a sore high hamstring, so whilst wfh this morning sat.on an ice pack for a while. It felt lovely at the time.

I was wearing thing jogging bottoms, so nit wasn't against my skin.

When I got up, there was a lump of very hard (frozen? 😮) flesh, which went away quite quickly when I removed the ice pack but now the skin is very red, sore and itchy.

A burn, chillblain?

Has anyone else managed to do anything so stupid and what would you do? Sudocrem?

Hairdryer to the buttocks to thaw out.

It could be a cold burn/frostbite, but it could also just be histamine from the cold.
I burned my arm on a (hot) baking tray last week and it has itched a lot. I took it as a sign of healing.

Is this a big area, or small? You can find advice on 111 about the size of burns yo worry about. If it's smaller, just keep it clean and give it time.

Sorry no help… just thought it was funny 😂. Also reminds me of the time I pulled a muscle in my left buttock doing sleepy bedtime yoga. Couldn’t walk properly for a few days.

Cold makes muscles contract and veins constrict and it can become itchy and inflamed.

Ideally you should warm it back up gradually and not to the same extreme as putting an ice pack but using extreme heat or extreme cold for pain does always carry risks.

Women burn their abdomen often through use of hot water bottles, so it's not a leap to think you can get cold burns and damage tissue from using icepacks either.

Please go careful because miss chandelier who lives down the road from us soaked her feet in an ice bucket once after rounding up the cattle (farmer) and lost her little toe five days later

No advice other than sudocrem is for burns.

I think we've all done something similar!

I have long hair and managed to singe about 3 inches sitting with my back too close to a roaring open fire once! It could have been a lot worse.
