Group activities to join - adult/mixed age

Looking for ideas for a young adult female with some anxiety and other issues.
Looking to socialise but with the attention being focused on an activity rather than the socialising which then hopefully happens alongside.
I suggested to her to not be limited to only her age (mid 20s).
Any suggestions please?
I have suggested Padel and a local ukelele group that meet in a pub.

What does she enjoy?

swimming is always good as you don’t have to actually speak to people when you’re in the water. As an extension triathlon is also good, you can train outside the pool on your own or in groups.

then there’s stuff like volunteering with groups such as the St John’s ambulance.

without knowing if she’s crafty, sporty or whatever it’s a bit too broad…

A community choir?

ToadRage · 13/10/2026 19:12

I joined a choir about a year ago. It's the highlight of my week. My choir is part of a nationwide choir company; The Peoples Show Choir and they do massed events that any choir member can join as well as local events with just your choir. If you check the website you can see if there is one near you. It's social as well, cos (at least at my choir) there is an open invitation to the pub after practice every week, we often do a meal out at Christmas and we have a choir WhatsApp group too.
I considered volunteering at my local cat charity but I can't get there and my disabilty is a hindrance.

She likes crafts, films, music. Not especially sporty but might try badminton or padel. She doesn’t work as she has some mental health issues. I was looking for ideas that we maybe hadn’t thought of trying.
