What would you expect in a first aid kit? Its in a city centre, on a high street with a boots and tesco a 2min walk away.

A few sticking plasters, maybe some individually sealed antiseptic wipes. I wouldn’t expect a holiday let cleaner to take on the job of sorting through the kit when they did turnover to make sure anything else was in date or replenished, so I wouldn’t really expect a kit at all.

I wouldn’t expect to find one. I take my own bag of things we might need and I’d dash out to Boots if we needed anything else.

Not only would I not expect one, I don't think I've ever seen one in a holiday let, and that's after going to 3/4 holiday lets every year for the past 2/3 decades. The nearest I've ever seen is a small pack of elastoplast in a kitchen drawer along with matches and spare batteries etc.

Surely most people carry the basics with them in their overnight bag?

I think it's one of those things that the owner could be in trouble for if they do provide a "Proper" kit thereby causing the renter to assume it's complete and rely on it, and it turns out to be missing some things or things out of date etc. It's certainly not something that a turnaround cleaner would be expected to check between every guest and buy replenishments for.

Thanks everyone, I was trying to keep the OP brief.
I too have never seen one, nor would I expect one. DH and I will be working abroad for 4mths so looking at using a management company to rent out our flat. The 3 we have contacted, all have 'First aid kit' as a mandatory item, but no description of contents.

I doubt the cleaner would count the items. I wanted an idea of what people might expect to see in one?
Anyone else?

I think that’s madness. It would have to be checked between visits otherwise it’s more a danger than a help.

PhyllisBide · 12/10/2026 16:26

I’d expect to see the same as in a classroom first aid kit. (Without the bump notes and wet paper towel).

Elastoplast
antiseptic wipes
tweezers
Gloves
hand sanitiser

I don't think I've ever seen a first aid kit in a holiday let.

TheBayHorse · 12/10/2026 16:28

I have a holiday let and we don't provide one. We used the inventory list from a major holiday lettings agency to decide what to provide and first aid kit wasn't on there.

Resealablestrip · 12/10/2026 16:31

I First Aid kit isn't mandatory in UK. If the agent is saying it is, I'd be wondering what else they're advising that is wrong.

I’d revert to the management companies and ask what their expectations are. They aren’t a legal requirement in a let, you can easily buy one of the standard HSE-compliant kits, but the management company / their cleaners are presumably going to be responsible for checking and restocking it.
