Potential kidney stone - routine or urgent GP appointment?

I currently have a kidney infection and the out of hours GP I saw thinks I could have a kidney stone as I've had flare ups of flank pain and nausea the last few months. She said I need to go to my GP and ask for a referral for imaging to see if I have a kidney stone.

Does anyone know if that is something that would warrant an urgent GP appointment or a routine one? I'm on the list for a routine appointment at the moment but that could be a 4-6-week wait. I was feeling so unwell that I didn't think to ask and half the appointment is a blur.

I've been on antibiotics for 2 days now and thankfully already feel a lot better aside from first thing in the morning. Do you think it's fine to go to work or is it something I need to still rest from even if I feel ok?

Urgent. Kidney problems can be agonising and need seeing quickly.

Urgent. The pain can escalate in no time. I went from ‘Oh, weird throb — did I pull a muscle?’ on the bus home from work to screaming on all fours in A and E at midnight.
