Do your kids have to cover their exercise books?

When I was a kid, we had to cover our exercise books in primary school. My kids didn’t for primary, but will have to in secondary.

"have to"?? Will they be expelled if they don't?

I remember having to cover text books and exercise books at school - many many years ago.
I'm amazed that this is still a thing.

I remember having to cover books in secondary school. I used to use wallpaper samples!

I'm a secondary teacher now and cannot think of one single reason why there is any point at all to asking kids to do this...

I was surprised. Also…at secondary school?!!!

@CurdinHenrypossibly, they seem rather on the strict side, but in a pointless way.

I went t to a few schools; one we had to cover them with anything (wrapping paper/wallpaper etc!), another it had to be clear adhesive plastic as a protective cover and one... nothing whatsoever.

Schools seemed to make their own funny rules. I also remember that one we could only write in ink pen and another it was biro only but you couldn't double underline titles 🤷.

Tippex and 'thinner' was accepted at one; banned at another.

We used wallpaper too. School gave everyone the posh, plastic wrap stuff for our hymn books though.
