Vinted wwyd?

Very minor Vinted issue and wondered what others would do? I brought an item from a seller listed as new with packaging intact, they also had another of the same item but with a piece of the packaging missing listed. I have received the other item so not the one in the listing I brought. Usually if it was for me it wouldn’t matter and I wouldn’t say anything as both new and the packaging will be removed but I purposefully brought this one as it is a present for my sister for Xmas. (It’s an item no longer sold hence buying on Vinted).

I was otherwise going to leave good feedback for seller as they were brilliant with everything else and although item arrived with a smell, I was happy to overlook that as the item just needed airing out and smell is fine now.

I don’t know if I should leave it, say something, write in feedback or raise an issue to swap items over.

If they just sent the piece that is missing - would that me satisfactory to you? Or has the other one sold now?

UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyself · 10/10/2026 10:21

Oh, and were they different prices because one was fully packaged?

vintedwoe · 10/10/2026 10:24

The packaging on the one I received is torn and missing a piece of it (which the seller doesn’t have), the one I brought has intact packaging.

The seller still has the ad listed for the torn one I received so I’m guessing they must still have the item I actually brought.

@UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyselfboth listed the same price. The seller did accept a lower price as I made an offer for the item as part of a bundle. Other items were fine and no issues.

I would query it.

I'd contact the seller and tell them they've sent you the wrong parcel and you would like the one you bought. That gives them the opportunity to recognise their mistake and make arrangements to send you the correct one and you can return the other but at their cost.

Oriunda · 10/10/2026 10:30

You message the seller, explain that they sent the wrong one in error (whether they did or didn’t, we don’t know). Ask that they send you the packaging for the first item. Otherwise, you raise it as a dispute with Vinted. Since you bought a new with packaging item, ready for gifting, that’s what you need.

Thank you. I have sent the seller a message.

I usually am happy to overlook minor issues and am probably too ‘nice’ as I don’t say anything. I feel bad as it is a minor issue that doesn’t affect actual item but as it’s for a gift and as me and the recipient don’t have the sort of relationship where I would know if they would be upset at receiving it in that condition iyswim, I was torn.

I am probably overthinking it.

The seller has got back to me and are happy to swap them over but are unsure how they do this, do I need to press the ‘I have an issue’ button so they can do this? I’ve not had to do this before so not sure either.

Yes! You need to click on this asap as it puts the transaction on hold until everything is resolved - if you let things go past 2 days Vinted will close the transaction and release the money to the seller.

It then depends if you want to just swap the packaging or actual item - you will need to pay to return - Vinted can’t seem to take it from the seller

you can message the seller with your address if you just want the packaging sent?

Lucyintheskywithnoidea · 10/10/2026 17:07

Report an issue. Return and buy the other item. If they are nice the seller will hide the other item until you are ready to buy it. Don’t do anything away from vinted (eg, giving out addresses) as you won’t be covered if anything goes wrong.

Yeah, off you go to Pedants’ corner. Pointing out SPAG errors anywhere else is patronising and rude.

ItsmeMargo · 10/10/2026 18:23

No matter how nice they appear to be, they might be trying it on by sending you the item with damaged packaging.

Make them go through the rigmarole of replacing it. They didn’t send you what you paid for.

The seller can and should pay for the return. Whether they will is another matter.
