Flexible working= shitty end of the stick

My work is fairly flexible which means I can do school drop offs and pick ups. It is definitely a full time commitment though so I have a few hours to make up each day. My husband wfh 9-5 and complains if I don’t do bedtimes and the dinner dishes with him, which means I then work a chunk of the night while he relaxes. A lot of the time he’ll try and chat and I’ll be frustrated he’s interrupting my work. Another sad face saying ‘but I’ve not seen you all day’.

He’s always been a bit selfish but I do get that it’s nice for us all to spend that time as a family. Does anyone else have a similar set up but work things out better than I do?

Being married to your husband is the shitty end of the stick. Other people manage better by not tolerating twats

Your unfortunate choice of husband is the shitty end of the stick.

You don’t have to do what he tells you just because of his sad face.

I think your work being really flexible to enable your lifestyle which presumably is how it is because you don’t want to pay for childcare, breakfast clubs, After School Club is like the rest of us, and because your husband is useless.

Change your working patterns so he has to do 50% pick ups/ drop offs and you switch off work at 5/6

Work less and enjoy spending the evening relaxing with and talking to your husband. Your spouse and children are more important. Relationships need proper time to nurture them.

I think you need to map out your work hours and the other necessities such as kid drop offs and then have a discussion with your husband. You need to block out some 'catch up' time each day/week so that it is clear that that is as protected as his 9-5 slot. If he cannot it when spelt out and continues hitting you with the pressure then you have a big problem...

Yeah that’s a good plan @LittleOwl153 . I guess I was hoping someone would say they’d found an extra 2 hrs in the day where they wasn’t needed!
