Have you successfully got rid of bad breath?!

And how did you achieve this?!

5 year old DC kindly told me my breath stank literally two minutes after brushing my teeth, when we had a cuddle this morning. This is the most recent thing that’s leading me to becoming increasingly paranoid that I have rancid breath!

If you’ve successfully managed to rid yourself of bad breath, I’d love to know how!

Look at your gut. And your gums.

Go and see a dentist. It could well be gum problems - they will tell you whether it is that and how to improve things, or if it is something else.

I see the dentist 2x a year, and the same with the hygienist. No issues raised there.

might be a gut problem...my daughter's breath stank like shit and no one could diagnose the problem...at my wits end i ordered some probiotics and hey presto shitty breath went away...i think it was due to year of antibiotics for ear infections

Hygienist appointment sorted mine, although the hygienist said they couldn't actually smell anything at the time. Have you specifically raised it as a concern while you are at the dentist?

Being dehydrated can make my breath a bit icky so you could try upping your water intake?

beigetriangle · 09/10/2026 14:05

are you ill?
sometimes when ill breath smells of really ripe brie.
do you snore? mouth breathe?
both can leave you with dryer mouth and resulting bad breath

pinkishtongue · 09/10/2026 14:30

Do you brush your tongue as well as your teeth? I once read that 80% of the stink comes from your tongue

TheRealSmurfette · 11/10/2026 16:22

Hygienist every 3 months here too.

Ultradex mouthwash works for me. I also visit dentist and hygienist twice a year and don't know why I have had I have had bad breath.

Hygienist appointment every 4 months to get a scale and polish, airflow or similar. Daily dental flossing. 2 x daily brushing and a quick mid day one if you can add it in too. Plenty of water, avoiding dehydration. A good diet 95% of the time including plenty of fruit, veg and fibre.
