Are the trees still green where you are?!

I'm a big autumn lover... yet where I live (West Midlands) the trees are still green. Last October everything was red and orange by now.

Are your leaves rusty yet? I'm starting to panic I'm missing out! 🍂🍁

Starting to turn in central Scotland. It does seem a bit late this year.

OriginalSkang · 09/10/2026 10:20

Mostly green here, but a bit sparse from so much leaf loss in the summer

thenightsky · 09/10/2026 10:23

Yes, we have a sycamore that hasn't started turning at all yet. Usually by mid October I'm sweeping up piles of leaves almost daily.

NewAgain26 · 09/10/2026 10:24

South west here.... Most Leaves still green but with some species starting to change (Acer in my garden is starting to turn) But Cherry and Rowan still green. Horse Chestnuts lost a lot of leaves in the summer and are now just turning yellow. I suspect "leaf peeping" season - if we can call it that in this country will be an anti-climax this year.

They changed here, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, overnight. One cold night and Autumn had arrived.

Iliketulips · 09/10/2026 11:12

Yes, they are - one orvtwo have a few yellow leaves on them. I did wonder if we'd get an early autumn after the hot summer, but everything seems to be recovering even though we haven't had a huge amount of rain

WhiteFramesandPlanes · 09/10/2026 12:56

Come on crispy autumn I long for you all year!

I’ve just taken the train the length of Ireland and was actually just saying to DH that there are few signs of autumn.

5289843DM · 11/10/2026 17:58

Coastal SE here and all green looking out the window. A few red/orange leaves when driving around though.
I was in London last week and there were lots of brown leaves in the parks and pavements rustling in the wind from the plane trees. Maybe they shed earlier or have been more affected by this summers heat?

JustSetFireToIt · 11/10/2026 18:03

I was saying this yesterday, the trees are either green, brown, or they’ve dropped their leaves completely. I’m in the Midlands and we appear to be going straight to winter. My poor Acers have missed the glorious change to red stage and have instead just shed their leaves.

sanityisamyth · 11/10/2026 20:23

No :( I bloody hate autumn.

JoannCourcyIveGotThePowerNSoul · 11/10/2026 20:31

Trees turning colour and leafs falling
NE..Scotland.

Oldraver · 11/10/2026 20:45

Yes, though there is definitely a ginger hue. Leaves not really fallen in our garden yet

Oldraver · 11/10/2026 20:47

I've also got Buddleia that is still blooming and a Clematis that re-bloomed, have st finished it's lady flower

swimsong · 11/10/2026 20:50

Was just commenting on this to a friend this morning. Only one tree turning in the local woods. There's so me leaf fall on the paths - but many of those are still quite green.

camerontucker · 11/10/2026 20:53

I was thinking the same thing while walking the dogs this morning. I'm in Fife and lots of green here!

Dearg · 11/10/2026 21:02

NE Scotland, and on the turn here. More so inland, but pretty green by the coast. We have a maple which is just turning red.

Lots of leaves on the ground, but the tees don’t look obviously sparse.

Still pretty mild weather wise.

fuschiaproudparrot · 11/10/2026 21:05

Does it have anything to do with the warm summer ? 🤷‍♀️

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/10/2026 21:14

Kent is green. Just starting to turn.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2026 21:19

It’s mostly green where I live (Lancashire), but a mix where I am at the moment in Dorset. Some trees still green, others yellow or red, but some totally gone.

I’m quite surprised, I was expecting an early autumn after this hot, dry summer.

Denim4ever · 11/10/2026 21:22

Yes and no. Lots of leaves fell before turning colour. Some are turning now, but the late summer ground bees are still here. It's all topsy turvy after the dry and hot summer.

InMySpareTime · 11/10/2026 21:39

Northwest England, mostly turning here, but we didn’t have as much water stress here as we had a bit of night rain every couple of weeks even when the days were scorching.
My blueberry shrubs have gone a gorgeous deep red, and the birch is speckled with yellow leaves among the green ones.
Autumn is my favourite season, all cosy and crisp, a season of comfort to ease the way from the long dusty days of summer to the long icy nights of winter.
Bring on the mists and mellow fruitfulness, me and my chunky knitwear are ready!

banhmi · 11/10/2026 22:01

SE London. Many trees started dropping their leaves at the end of August, but largely because they are so dehydrated and heat-stressed. Newly planted street trees are looking very sorry for themselves but huge horse chestnuts were clearly badly affected by the heatwaves too. Plane trees seem to be doing a bit better thankfully.
