Back story of last 4 years of my relationship eith my bf, walking on eggshells shells around his mum, lots of jabs/nasty comments.. an undertone that ill never be good enough for him etc etc.
Verbally assualted via text from her / his sister all bc I set boundaries to ask before turning up to our home as I was pregnant and ill at the time *specifically texted it to younger 17yr brother as he'd come round unannounced multiple times a week.
All of this abuse got brushed under carpet and forgotten... this happened beginning of June.

August 28th is when the main abuse happened to my face I was 5 months pregnant I also would like to say I still to thid day have not sworn/shouted at any of his family.
August 28th...
I had been one of his sisters home to take the toxic sister’s children to the cinema with my bf for a birthday present. The day had actually been lovely and there had been no argument. At the end, outside nice sisters house, my bf, toxic sister's children were close by parked behind mine.
I was sitting in my own car and I initiated a civil goodbye as his toxic sister walked out of home to go past my car. I said
“Have a nice evening, see you later.”
His sister responded that she wasn't going to forget how I had spoken to his mum or what I had done, but that “for my brother I’ll put it to bed.”
Never spoke poorly to the mum at all
I still said that was fair and agreed to be civil, but told her that I would not accept her speaking to me again the way she had on WhatsApp. Verbally assualt via text.

His sister then became angry and started shouting and swearing at me, repeatedly calling me things including “cunt,” “bitch” and “dickhead.” She said things including “Laurie can do better,” “none of our family like you” and “we all fucking hate you.”
His sister then went inside and got his mum. His mum "ran" to my car window and said things including “what the fuck are you doing now you cunt?” and continued shouting abuse at me. The two of them continued screaming abuse at me through the car window. being physically held back by my bf i was 5 months pregnant.
I started recording because of what was happening. The recording only captured roughly one minute of an incident that lasted around 20–25 minutes.
His sister lunged towards me to try to take my phone. bf intervened and took the phone, which stopped the recording. I then got out of the car to retrieve my phone.
While I was holding the phone in my right hand, his mum grabbed my left wrist and tried to get to the phone. She said:
“I fucking dare you to share that video or post it online.”
I got back into my car and had more abuse hurled at me. Bf not particularly saying much at all just asking them to stop. Mum lunged at me the second time I got out when she said he can do better.. "I walked up to her hands behind my back" asked what was that? She lunged forward saying "wtf are yku going to do about it"
Have not had contact face to face since aside mum/ sister trying to manipulate my bf with how much they love him and will always be there for him and HIS BABY!! and that he needs a separate phone without me knowing and that his friends are worried about him...? No ones messaged him directly.? Still both talking nasty about me.

What do i do now in my 3rd trimester feeling weak and alone.

Wow that’s a lot. Sounds like your life will be hell with these people. I suppose you need to get your bf onboard and cut them off completely. Will he be able to do that?

OneNewEagle · 08/10/2026 22:25

Have absolutely no contact with them. I would also reconsider my relationship.

IhaveatoxicMIL · 08/10/2026 22:29

Id love no contact but I hate to take away his mum/sister from him... its sad and difficult x

Id love no contact and i think if I weren't pregant I may consider a break from him. He's doing his best as he's not used to talking down to them and putting them in their place but now he's chosen me as his family and try for a baby he needs to sort his priorities.

Your life will be made hell by these ghastly people.
I would not entertain a relationship with your partner.

He's done no wrong by me and im 7 months pregnant, I adore him in every way but when it comes to him standing up to his mummy ... he lacks alot of confidence.

I agree that they will make your life hell if you stick around. I would run far, far away before the baby is born, whether my BF decided to come with me or not. Once the baby is born, you may have fewer options to move away. You don't want your baby to be exposed to these toxic people.

whippersnapper55 · 09/10/2026 05:32

I wouldn't want these people anywhere near my baby. But I bet when the baby comes, your drippy partner will want to take the baby to see his hideous mother and sister and you won't be able to stop him. My best advice is to move far away before the baby comes. Seriously. I promise you, you will have a lifetime of trouble with these people if you stay with him.

IronEverything · 09/10/2026 05:42

Oh I'd tell them they won't be seeing your baby, so they'd better get that idea out of their heads. And if your partner doesn't agree to that then he can fuck off to them and not see baby either.

They tried to assault a pregnant woman, they are dangerous. I'd share the video far and wide if they do much as looked at me again.

Meadowfinch · 09/10/2026 05:55

He lacks confidence !

Err, no, he's an adult. He's about to be a father, and needs to grow a backbone quickly. You need to agree with him that :

a) he will not expect you to have contact with such ghastly people again
b) in the longer term, you will move away from them
c) your child is never to be left alone with any of them
d) they will never be allowed in your house

Or you end the relationship now and you move away. Given the chance, they will make your life a misery and your relationship won't survive anyway. Sorry, I know that's hard.

Craftysue · 09/10/2026 06:11

I'm sorry but if my in laws had behaved like that, my husband would have had my back. He needs to grow a backbone and look after you and your baby. I think you have a big decision to make - he either puts you first or I genuinely think you'll be better off on your own.

cartagenagina · 09/10/2026 07:06

Can you move away from them? What support do you have?

I would never see them again and wouldn’t want my DC anywhere near them. Obviously you can’t stop DP from seeing them, although I don’t understand why he would want to.

EppingIsFun · 09/10/2026 07:21

I'd cut my own family off if they'd done that to my husband, tbh.

If he doesn't cut them off now, this is likely to escalate. What's he saying about it now? Is he still seeing them even though you aren't? Also why was he holding you back??

MerlinsHairyBeard · 09/10/2026 07:26

Good grief, I'd have called the police! What absolute lunatics!

Worriedandsad76 · 09/10/2026 09:15

Mummy will always come first. Run.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 09/10/2026 09:27

Sounds like you've involved yourself with a certain type of family. I've never seen anything like this, nor been sworn at / shouted at in the street.

Recording them was a weird reaction.
